So, as it was stated by Russ on Reddit, Clan mechs had effectively shut down the map development. I understand that amount of resourses required to design so many news mechs in advance was great, especially as Omnis are different from IS mechs, having other style and being able to switch limbs back and forth. I understand the need to release those Omnis as a pack for marketing purposes and to make Invasion look like Invasion, not just trickle.
But for now it is done. Only a couple of weeks left before we can see them all - Invasion Pack Prime variants and accompanying Alt Configs, regular and gold. Some of them won't be available for regular MC/CB purchase for long, but those who bought respective packages will be able to drop in all of them since June 6th - from the earliest Uller to the latest Masakari.
And release schedule now gives us two great Clan OmniMechs released for regular purchase per month till November 2014. It's more than we had before. But as this "before" constitutes years of development for now, we also have 29 IS mechs available.
Despite all this I've read somewhere that PGI is going to keep releasing IS mechs this year, bringing mech production to MORE than 2 per month. If so, i looks like awfully wrong priority. MWO currently has far too few maps to remain enjoyable for long. OK, keep releasing heroes for existing chassis if you feel like you need it (it won't probably require too much resourses), but releasing new IS chassis atop Clan Omnis smells.. very bad. Maybe just give us the long ago announced Flea (and implement MASC) to fill the void of CB releases in June of July, but that's it. I see many around people asking for maps, and I'm on this island too. MWO doesn't look any good in this field when compared to other title I play.

Agree I would much rather more maps than mechs, but of course PGI would be thinking of the immediate financial benefits from new mechs, but maybe they are forgetting that making new maps will keep players playing more and help to attract new players and would ultimately pay off for them later.
It's been a long time since the last new map.

I would rather see the game on a solid foundation without so many hit reg issues etc. etc.
After that, it should be focused on maps and aesthetics etc.

If PGI came out with more maps that were bigger and better balanced people would have no problem paying money. Throw in a new game mode and early stages of CW. Boom money! PGI just needs to get their lost core audience back. This Tournament alone shows there are a decent amount of people playing why not try and win some of those lost souls back?

Their team is quite small. While I don't always like defending PGI, the fact stands that they're trying to crank out long overdue features and it's hurting. It reminds me of when I leave assignment work to the last minute, then completely screw up my time while trying to quickly get it done.
I don't see why you think it's 'done' when they reveal the last 'Mech. Surely you don't think the 'Mech models are the only thing going to need work when Clans come out? Forum changes are likely, the damage system might need changing due to the Mad Cat, new weapons and mechanics, etc etc... and I sincerely doubt they're going to get it right on release.
That, and they're going to need to work on CW straight after. So we'll see where the effort goes. Frankly I don't see how CW is going to work without a large variety of maps... so maybe maps are a bigger priority.

Your argument of 'for now it is done' is invalid.

Clans are shown as at 50% completion at the moment.
So it's all hands on deck to focus just on sorting them I believe.
After that it's supposed to be CW, 1-2 maps and some other things though.

Blackjack hero, then new maps.
Personally I'd like to see 'Tourmaline Night' with freezing temperatures but a huge moon or two (or lots of stars in the skybox) to provide ample visibility for the large map.

I wholly agree that we need new maps.
Sadly, this is why console games like "Call of Duty" are such a hit.
You don't see new weapons and stuff added as much as maps and customizations.
We STILL don't have any way to add custom decals or paint schemes (a paint booth utility WOULD NOT take much time to build) either.
I'd be HAPPY to pay for "map packs" and "decal/paint scheme 'layers'" such as what you have in CoD. I feel paying for THESE options are more financially responsible than the current seemingly "Pay to Win" (and I use that term VERY loosely) system of offering more mechs for more money.
I won't lie, I've wasted probably near $1,000 over the last 48 months on this game, only because with a SEVERE lack of time to play, I must try to keep up with everyone else by shelling out cash (thank GOD for Smurfy's Mechbay). So far, I feel cheated.

When people starting paying money for maps and especially real money for hero maps then you will get maps. Until then it's mechs and more mechs because they sell for real money or at least are a c bill sink. When you find a way for PGI to squeeze a buck out of other features you might see more of them but until then it's money money... I mean mech mech mech!

More maps won't make the gameplay better.

Agreed. What we need is a gamemode thats actually fun. Assault/Skirmish are just deathballing and whoever does it better wins. Conquest at least splits teams up but the fact it takes FOREVER to capture points makes Conquest completely unfun.

i wouldnt mind even slight changes to the current maps, sort of like forest colony. Add some more night modes, different weather modes. think this would be a nice start. Add some extra bits depending on weather (again like forest colony)
I wouldn't even mind them trying to change them a bit to get people to use more of the maps.
What the game needs, and this goes for all team based games, is modes and scoring that PROMOTE team play. Give lances that work together more, maybe add smaller goals in modes like capturing a radar installation on the maps than give a team some extra bonus to sensors, something teams can contest to help out their team overall.
Maybe have smaller installations with turrets or something. maybe there only 1 but your team can cap this defense installation and now you have an extra "fighter" in a way. sprinkle a few around and see what happens.
Make capping a base in assault mode worth WAY more bills and XP than just killing everything, same with winning by points in conquest. Make there more of an incentive to win and not just turn everything into skirmish.
