What Do You Respect?

I have no respect for teams that drop 12 loaded with ecm and every meta build to just devastate anyone they come across and actually think they have skills. Some may but the majority play like street gangs not true warriors making do with what they have.

I do respect the LRM boat that carries Artemis, BAP and TAG and a decent engine and a couple of backup lasers and stays near the front line actually supporting.
I don't respect the 3 ecm lights + ecm cicada or shadowhawk premades.
I do respect the premades that don't run off in their lonesome to leave the stupid "pugs" soften up the enemy for them.
I do not respect AC40s, dual Gauss or poptarts, because the people that pilot them don't really want to play MWO but any generic shooter that happens to be f2p.
I do respect a Victor with an AC20 and pulse lasers.
I do not respect anyone that calls for a push, rushes 500m in their lonesome, melts under enemy fire and then cries for not having any backup.
I do respect anyone who takes 2 seconds to check their hud map if people follow them in their push; I usually am on their right flank.
I do not respect any light that climbs the highest ridge, mountain or building so that they can snipe enemies with their ERLL at 1000+ meters.
I do respect any light that will make contact and bother to hit R before running away.
I do not respect an ECM light pilot that knows how to leg hump.
I do respect an ECM light pilot that know how and when to switch to counter.

people who cry about everything from LRMs to ECM in the forums and demand that PGI cater to their preference because they can't or won't adapt to an ever-changing metagame, those people have my undying hatred and contempt. (Though only one so far has managed to get on my ignore list, I'll at least hear out their argument before I condemn it.)

Teamwork and good aim are incredibly OP.

Yea do you mean like metaplayers changed multiple PPCs/Gausses for 2xPPC+2xAC5:... what a great change to metagame xD

I respect when lights help to cover those of use in big slow lumbering hunks of metal so we don't end up flailing around because of the one light who has sneaked up behind us. They help chase them away or stop focussing on the bigger mechs.
I don't respect when the faster mechs in your lance run at full speed away to the rest of the team from the start point potentially leaving you at the mercy of the enemy scouts and lrm barrages.
I also don't respect when you're playing a mech with lrm's supporting and they your team doesn't help defend you from the enemy sneaking in to attack. Then moan as they have no lrm support against the enemy.

I respect the ECM pilot who tries to cover as much as the team as possible, often at his own risk.
I respect the pilot who uses the numeric keypad to set his throttle while s/he provides useful info in Company/Lance chat.
I respect the medium pilot who contributes to the team effort by letting the heavies/assaults engage, and swings in (staying out of firing lanes) to help finish off.
I respect any pilot who says "Nice shot" and not "ermagherd you headshotted me hacker"
I respect anyone who simply asks for help,
I respect pilots who dont tell others what to do after they have died.
I respect a talented LRM pilot, no matter the weight class of the chassis.

Also, pilots who do well with SRMs in a medium weight chassis, especially if they can kill lights.

What builds do you respect to see played well?
Any trial mech. I have seen trial players absolutely dominate, and you know what? Props to them. That takes skill, luck, and a blessing from the Great Pumpkin.

Basics - guys who make way for retreating teammates. Guys who hold fire to let skirmishers through. Guys who provide covering support.

Nothing. They're a bunch of damn dirty reds.
Seriously, anyone who gives me a nod. Even in a losing match, I've generally put on a good showing. I respect people who call me out for it, and I've made some fast friends that way. On the other hand, anyone who I see in a few matches in a short time period - especially guys that turn out to be a Nemesis - always on the red team, similar mechs, and we have a few good fights in a few matches. I love seeing a performer on the other team - it makes me want to do better.

I don't 12-man, or private.

If you don't do all of this stuff every match you can.... why not?
Because I am (disappointingly) human (not robot), and have bad days, like anyone else.

The focus is on what is respectable, not what isn't respectable. If you get into the 'what isn't' part you'll just make people defensive and waste valuable electrons on the interwebz with bickering posts.
This is about what you respect. You, personally. Not anyone else, not what you think other people should think, just you.
PUGGING:
What builds do you respect to see played well? Any light that is played well, always get my props. Also Dual gauss snipers that are crack shots from 800+ fun to see

What behavior in teammates do you see that you find respectable? Scouts putting themselves in danger to pop off a UAV, anything that they go out of their way to benefit the team
What behavior do you see in the other team that you find respectable? No sore losers/winners
PRIVATE MATCHES/12MANS:
What builds do you respect to see played well? Anything that gets the job done. Normally you will see mostly meta stuff anyway.
What behaviors in teammates do you see that you find respectable? Focus fire lol
What behavior do you see in the other team that you find respectable? Using mobility, using flanks, outstanding focus fire.
FINAL BONUS QUESTION:
If you don't do all of this stuff every match you can.... why not? I'm not sure why one wouldn't

I am confused, what do you expect a 5V to run? I get the mech is horrible but you don't blame the people that are forced to Exp out the 5V to get the elite skills for the viable variants.

Communicate, even if it's just a 'thank you' for the guy scouting or a 'good job' on someones particularly good maneuver/shot.
Play to your team even as a pug. Provide cover fire and help teammates, don't use them like shields.
Be a good sport when you lose OR win - especially when you win.
Mix it up. If everyone brought one of the 3 peak meta builds every match the game would be dull. Anyone can hump the meta; doing well in something a-typical makes the game more enjoyable for everyone.
Be a team player. Play to your team, good or bad, be the guy who takes risks or helps your team win even if it means you don't get all the kills.
If you swap out your LRMs for space to bring hookers and blow, bring enough for both teams. Nobody likes a Bogart.
The game is, at its core, a game. You're playing with other people. When you take the time to be cool, to be someone worth respecting, you make other people enjoy the game more and they, in turn, are more likely to make the game fun for you in return.
Focus on what you like. Not what you don't like. You can control the first, not the second.
