Well the point might be that we aren't thin-skinned. In one particular environment where some will take just about any opportunity to take pot-shots and deride us, we will indeed brush that off our shoulders. Not simply because they are exemplifying the kinds of behavior we moderate against on our forums/game to begin with, thus suggesting that we don't want nor need customers who intend to act in such a manner, but also because if we do try to please everybody with everything at once, especially those who simply have an axe to grind against us: We won't have much of a focused/fun game in the end so much as an over-ambitious/diluted monstrosity.

Isn't this the barfbag guy?

Just chiming in as a nother r/mwo contributer who is niether banned or ever been on moderation review... oh yea I don't have any alt accounts here or on reddit. PGI Fox and PGI Karl Berg were both treated very well when they were there, in fact PGI Fox said it was his mission to try an win a lot of people back who were upset with PGI and the game, of course that was during that game of No Community Manager. However one again I have been told I am not a customer or target audience, so I continue on the N.O.P.E brigade....

They maybe they wouldn't have to face an annual firing squad when they do decide to speak. I mean really, why do you guys want to go through the trouble of answering the same 5 questions over and over from the same old people..?

Really, that's going to happen regardless of where they post their questionnaires until they resolve the issues that they don't feel exist yet nearly the entire community is pitchfork and torching about.

While I would never go out of my way to insult a legitimate customer on an official channel. As mentioned, r/mwo is neither official nor does it represent our desired nor actual customer base anymore. The inhabitants there have been free to trash on our game, fans, customers, players and staff alike for several months now. To draw from a previous response in this thread, I certainly hope they aren't too thin-skinned, lest they prove my point for me as they seem to already have done an exemplary job of. Actual players who happen to be redditors are again advised to take their constructive, informative and fun MWO discussions to r/OutreachHPG instead of the former sub-reddit.

I don't even know where to begin with this one.

You mean by calling 4000 subscribers to the r/mwo channel an echo chamber that is not apart of the community is not an insult?

As mentioned, r/mwo won't be seeing anymore official visits until moderation standard are introduced.

But, but, r/mwo is the offical reddit for mwo the game, it even says so in the top left corner with a dapper golden urbanmech showing you that u.i. 2.0 is here.

Also, what kind of moderation standards would you like to see there? Perhaps you can point out a few of the posts there that should be moderated and why so that we can have a baseline to how you would like the official r/wmo to be moderated.

You should be more accurate. 8 people downvoted him 23 times on multiple alt accounts. :P

How about re institute the mods who were there before the split, along with the forum rules they had? You know, before all the existing mods were kicked out and replaced with Islanders.

The rest weren't half bad. But you have to understand, r/mwo isn't moderated. A lot of people moved to outreachHPG because critical posts were no longer being moderated. A lot of people simply weren't interested in dissent. I think it's better this way.

In shock news today, "r/mwo surprised to hear that constant criticism has negative effects".

Stay tuned to the obvious channel where we'll be bringing you important news about the colour of the sky (spoiler alert, blue) and the answer to that question about bears you've always wanted to ask.

Its not so much we were surprised by the fact they avoided r/mwo for the AMA as a whole because we **** on them a lot (for a variety of reasons mind you). We are just amazed Niko had the balls to admit their reason publicly. Especially with almost zero self-awareness of his own behavior and how it has led to the distrust people in r/mwo have towards him.

I have not logged in to the forums for some time but Is this the /r/mwo or 4chan summoning thread? It's not really an improvement in winning back disenfranchised players.

This is absolutely great, everyone said what a bad idea it was to make Niko community manager.
Now we have pages and pages of his posts showing exactly why.

It's really shocking to see a "professional" constantly blame everything else under the sun besides themselves for the game and community issues.

For the record as one of those evil 4chains/redditors, there are maybe 5 people who made alt accounts, the rest of the "Vocal Minority" that is so large it drove PGI off reddit are actual individual players who PGI disenfranchised.

Yes as shocking as that may be PGI really has driven away more customers than it has retained, but you keep telling yourselves whatever you need to sleep at night.

Hey Niko if you really cared you'd read over #savemwo. We tried a long time ago. HARD. And you banned most of them and ignored them. Why do you think r/mwo is so jaded. You are a huge part of the reason.

People like Fox and Karl get HUGE praise on r/mwo and you don't. Ask yourself why. Maybe if you changed your attitude and how you treat people in a condensing way. If I treated my customers at work the way you do, I would be fired.

Otherwise, I might as well send my men into the depths of 4chan, from where they might never return. (It took me several years to climb out of there with only a rusty spork to defend myself)

An absolute lie. We would've thrown you back out ourselves.

This thread is an incredible example of what happens when people fail to recall recent history (for example, Roadbeer going from staunch champion of PGI to yet another critic) and also fail to learn from it. Niko, your company had 4chan in your pocket in 2012, with the only complaints being warnings that something was amiss.

To make an analogy, we warned you that this game had potential but was sitting on a number of highly flammable issues. You ignored us. Eventually, as the issues continued to stack up and the flint of broken promises was repeatedly struck, a fire broke out.

4chan revolted. The fire spread.
General Discussion revolted. The fire spread.
Something Awful revolted. The fire spread.
/r/MWO revolted. The fire spread.

Now, here you are, almost in the middle of 2014, and rather than address the issue that has caused your community engagement team to run from safe haven to safe haven like it's a Scooby Doo chase scene, you simply try to rationalize the issue as one of "trolls" and "banned users" (which is another lie, since as you can see I'm still here - for now). Your role within the company should be that of a firefighter, but rather than brave the heat to put out the flames, you just keep moving from house to house, evidently unaware that eventually, the fires of the angry and disenfranchised will catch up to you.

Someday soon, you'll be given your walking papers and told to throw everything in your cubicle into a box before being escorted out by mall security, because you will have failed to perform your duties in a satisfactory manner. The rest of your company will likely follow, as your failure to contain the raging inferno that was once your consumer base will ensure that continued development and support for the game will soon become financially unviable. I want you to remember that. When MechWarrior Online goes offline, and PGI closes its doors, you, along with Russ, Brian, and Paul, will be responsible, because not only did you frequently stoke the fire for your own entertainment, you were unable (and possibly unwilling!) to extinguish it.

(EDIT: Not 30 minutes after posting this, I've been put on mod approval for posting. Truth hurts, I suppose.)

This exactly, the PGI employees that actually act like professionals are always welcome and have been treated very well.

Its sad really that the good people working for this company are constantly overshadowed by the egotistical management running it into the ground.

Edit: Now I need mod approval before posting,
its ok Niko I wont be posting anymore anyway I'll be giving my time and money to companies who act like professionals instead of children enjoy your "echochamber" while it lasts.

In case anyone cares PGI fox is http://mwomercs.com/...1-kyle-polulak/, if there is anyone left at PGI who gives a damn its him.
I highly encourage all the "trolls" to contact him about this whole community management debacle, seeing he has not lost his ability to give a damn about the community.

Reddit is set up so the community can moderate itself. And the community does moderate itself. Mostly by sending useless and snarky posts (cough) to the bottom and sending helpful ones to the top. Sure, there is a (minor) problem with people using alts to game the upvote/downvote system (cough) but honestly who cares about karma points anyways? If you have a great product, it speaks for itself. The majority of feedback you are going to be getting is going to be overwhelmingly positive. On the other hand, if you have a mediocre product, it's going to be the inverse of that. People shouldn't be censored for speaking their opinions when those opinions are stated in a civil and tasteful manner rather than simply just being a nasty person. (cough)

It's snide stuff like this that makes sure they never post anywhere and just count money instead.
