The gargoyle is going to rip IS mechs up in brawl. The only thing close to it is the Victor and PGI has ruined it.

The Gargoyle hasn't been announced. Also, it doesn't have the armor that an assault mech should have and it has relatively little pod space. Unless the mech got godlike hitboxes and good hardpoints, it would be mediocre at best.

I would not scoff at a 80T mech doing 89 kph after speed tweak, and frankly, there is a loadout with UAC20 + 6 MLs...that is going to be nasty.

An XL400 is way too big of an engine for an 80 ton mech. The amount of speed is gain is a lot less than the amount of firepower that you have to give up for it. That loadout you referenced only comes with 2 tons of ammo and it would explode from heat pretty quickly (those lasers are ER).

I'd rather drive a Mad Cat, which can be equipped with JJs thanks to the Alternate S variant. It also moves at the same ground speed, and has more armor, and a few tons more pod space. It's simply superior in every way, barring hitboxes (which could go either way).

Wouldn't be at all surprised if once ACs got nerfed that people just switched to the HGN-732 and mounted 3 PPCs and just slowed down the rate at which they popped to compensate for the ghost heat.

Any assault ‘Mech that carries larger than a 300-rated engine, and less than 45 tons of weapons and associated ammunition/equipment, is considered useless by the general MWO community.

Any heavy ‘Mech that carries larger than a 300-rated engine, and less than 38 tons of weapons and associated ammunition/equipment, is considered useless by the general MWO community.

Any medium ‘Mech is considered useless by the general MWO community. Layout is completely irrelevant – any ‘Mech in the 40-60 ton range (including 60-ton heavies) is useless, no matter what is done with it.

Any light ‘Mech that carries less than a 295 engine, moves slower than 148kph after Tweak, or carries less than six energy hardpoints is considered useless by the general MWO community.

I’m not sure why people are making a big deal out of the Clans at this point. Clearly anything that carries less than half of its total weight in blasting power, and/or moves faster than 70 clicks an hour without weighing 35 or less tons, is useless. Suppose it doesn’t matter, though. I will continue to hold that enough firepower in the right spot is better than too much firepower unable to get to where it needs to go, and pilot ‘Mechs that go faster than 70kph. I am one of those guys who put a 385XL under the AC/20 in his VTRs just because he g’damned could, and furthermore I am one of those guys who never once even for an instant regretted doing so.

Give me that Stormcrow! Give me that Summoner! Give me that Timber Wolf, and the Gargoyle, and all those other ‘too much engine not enough gun’ Clan ‘Mechs that everyone says are wastes of space! Let me at ‘em, and we’ll just see what striker pilots have to say about machines that sacrifice gunspace in order to go faster than a legged assault ‘Mech, eh?

Aren't they breaking their legs now? Assaults lose more armor than Lights in falls bad landings in future version. I think that's what some are saying. Of course they start with more armor too.

I hate how Dragone Slayers can fit 2 UAC5s and The Heavy metal cannot.

The Dragon Slayer can not fit 2x UAC 5s.

VTR-9S, VTR-9B & HGN-733C can all fit 2x UAC5s.

God I miss that... My Dragon Slayer was a monster.

Its still not a bad mech and honestly one of the best Hero variants in the game.

So true... But that entire 2 points of aim might mess with kids nowadays... :D

Indeed. Streaks can deal with lights. The twist speed is more than enough to deal with everything else; all other weapons are on the arms so the only Victor that actually suffers is the Dragon Slayer's poptart design. It does hurt the Victor's ability to twist and that's directly a brawling nerf due to its incredibly good hitboxes. That's as far as actual combat.

It turns as fast as the Awesome but twists like an Atlas.

Its arms move 3 times faster so unlock them and they'll literally drag the torso to twist faster. Not only that, but a player can improve his or her survival by using the left CTRL key to aim instead of completely exposing the entire front side.

My Victors Brawl. And for added challenge, mine don't jump. I do just fine. And my brawlers are damage over time rigs for high endurance; screw meta. Meaning I look at the enemy longer, pack an XL, and don't even go very fast in favor of plenty of ammunition for my LB-10 + AC/5 combination. I don't have any trouble brawling or dealing with poptarts. No trouble with anything except with LRMs.

...Damn LRMs. :D

Sooner or later they're going to add jump jet heat, and we'll see.

I got my first HGN and tried just that. XL engine, 80% heat spike. I'd be fine with people taking that loadout.

45 hurts, but you have to revert to 35+10 after even the first salvo.
