"But the Nova????? Thats just a Stormcrow with ER-M-Laser Arms! Put the legs where they belong to an we can speak of it again!"

Because everyone wants to play a 'mech with no torso twist and arms with no port/starboard travel at all.

The NOVA looks good but the DireWolf top hood over the cockpit is just to long and to wide makes it look to much like the Masakari.

short hood

the cockpit

I guess it just depends on which older incarnation of the DireWolf you model some have a short hood over the cockpit some a medium hood over the cockpit and the PGI direwolf has a long wide hood over the cockpit.

I guess it's a matter of taste, I never found the MW4 or MW3 Dire Wolves to be particularily well done.Let's remember that the "head" of the mech in MW4 was all CT ... easily hit from all angles.

I don't like those mainly because the cockpit is so big, it makes the mech itself look alot smaller.

Ya know the nova looks a lot like it's non-omnimech cousin and since it isn't really an omni mech maybe it is just a smaller supernova?

Maybe some people would do? - Total lack of effort.

And no one played the Nova ever again. That's what would happen if they put the Nova like the original design.

Woops, you lost your side torso? There goes both your leg and arm.

No one would want to play a mech that loses an arm and it's leg when once side torso is gone.

All in all, for the purpose of the game, the current implementation of the Nova is much better than the 20 degree torso twist one.

At least it will be usable now, instead of the 2 or 3 people who would play it for 5 days before dropping it, if PGI implemented the original design.

I don't know if you haven't noticed, but when a leg gets destroied in MWO it's still there, just you start dragging it (happened in MW4 too if you care about that game). So there's no reason to worry about Nova losing it's arms if it's legs got destroyed.

The only problem is that torso twisting would look strange and/or gameplay would be a ***** to balance if they used the old design. I wouldn't really trust any developer to properly balance something like the nova. They took the easy way out, but imo it's the best way because after a while people won't complain about the design much, while people would always complain and whine about nova's gameplay if it was added like it used to be.

You missed part of the point. There is extra risk that is unnecessary in the destruction of the leg. Not only did I lose my ST and arm, but I also have to lose my leg and go down to 15 Kph, while no other mech in the entire game has to deal with that. Whether the leg is there or not won't help much since you're legged just by losing a side torso.

The only way to balance the risk is to make the CT hitbox HUGE, like XBAWX HUEG, and then everyone would complain about that, because it would make the Dragon CT look like a peach in comparison.

I'm glad they went with this implementation and agree with you.

*Sniff* My favorite Clan Light mech, and we don't get to see it till 3058!

This Dire Wolf is based on the MW4 model, and if you don't like it, TOUGH! Looks amazing! One very strange thing is the Orange/Black/Lime patterns makes the nose look kinda out of whack, but the default one and the cool camo pattern makes it look fine, along with the EPIC GOLD one (I has it!).

yes i agree. the huge head in standard non-preorder one seems more tolerable (while still being painful to the eyes)... and thats the one i'm gonna pilot when it comes out for mc/cbills.

So no description for the Dire wolf like in the other screenshots PGI?

No information about how the Smoke Jaguar's supposedly dishonorably gained the rights to produce the mech from Clan Wolf?

No mention of how Rare it is outside of Smoke Jaguar,Clan Wolf Or the Wolfs Dragoons?

Just a few notes.

1. The Dire Wolf, while having a bit large of a torso, looks very good and menacing. I hope it is nice and squat, maybe up to the Atlas' armpit, to make up for that bulk.
2. The Clan camo is horrible, especially on the Dore Wolf, where it makes the mech look bloated and...well... Horrible. The standard camo/colors look 1000 times better, and the Gold paint looks way better too.
3. That Gold Nova screenshot (the first one) is probably the best image yet of the Gold paint job. It's just too bad they took it in the shadows, again, as the few parts that are in the light really look wonderful.

The Clan colours are awful. I Will keep the pattern but I'll swap Orange for Phoenix Grey and the Neon Green for some kind of deep Crimson.

Are you going to rework Timber Wolf's terrible model?

By the way your Dire Wolf's 3D model is like meh, 6/10.

I like the Timber Wolf's model just fine, and the Dire Wolf only looks meh in the Clan camo/colors.

Just for the record, I would fork over the extra $260 for a Gold Dire Wolf in a heartbeat if I thought I could get away with it - my wife would strangle me if I did that after she gifted me the Masakari pack already, lol...
