Hey guys. So I'm running this game on what can only be described as a potato, since a toaster is too much of a compliment. When all settings are put at their lowest, and everything works fine my FPS hits a whopping 22-24 frames. The rest of the time I am swimming between 17-19 FPS.

I was wondering if the recent changes such as film grain and cockpit glass have an impact on my fps as well, and if there are any user.cfg configs you guys would be willing to share, to help a rusty bucket work better, until I am broke enough to replace it.

my graphics card is NVIDIA 3100, and suffice to say, it doesn't cut it with MW:O. So I am looking for a user.cfg configuration to help boost it's performance.

An nVidia what?

What's the CPU look like?

And why isn't this down in Hardware?

:D

CPU is Intel Core i5 M540@2.53GHz, with 4GB RAM.

As for hardware. That's a good point. I made a mistake with the forum placement.

I'll ask a moderator to move my thread there.

These them?

There's a meme about "Pro Cards don't Game" that soooo prevalent, any test with both types of cards all center on AutoDesk products, and say nothing about game engines.

I also see plenty of guys haxing Quadro drivers to run on GeForce in the name of image quality, with very little fps loss, so it is a hardware difference we are talking about, here.

I "live" in the same numbers as you (but I did't have a videocard). My user.cfg is:

gp_option_ShowCockpitGlass=0
r_DepthOfField=0
r_HDRGrainAmount=0.0

Numerical it helps just a little bit, but you can see least clear. (And it is full legal, you can find it somewhere in this Forum..)

PS. I think I use the DX9, because DX11 decreased my numbers.

I was wondering the samething. I run this game on 2 different systems. One fairly high end AMD system and another which is a laptop and consider it a lower end system. it has a 9800GTS mobile card from nvidia and the game use to actually run good. but now like you I am at 15-25 frames. I have been meening play with the new settings but not sure if I increase the number, if that would hurt the lower or raise my frames, And yes this is perfectly legal it was in the patch notes that we were encouraged to play with these numbers. Anyways if you find anything that works good for you. Let me know. I know my Laptop runs DX9, i have recently went back to DX9 from my high end system. I cant stand the frame lost from DX11. I honestly think its my amd processor tying things up but i havent figured that out yet

Yes, these would be them :huh:

I know these configs are legal, hence why I'm asking about them in the first place. Since the only thing I used my User.cfg file for, was adjusting FOV.

I'll have to double check, but I think my machine is running DX 11.

I have no idea how much Hyperthreading will help, thus all the "it's a dual-core" statements; I'm hoping that culling early and often will have the CPU unload the GPU, but who knows? The twin fps limit statements are pie-in-th'ah-sky, but easy to adjust.

So:
ca_thread = 0
e_ParticlesThread = 0
r_MultiThreaded = 1
d3d10_TripleBuffering = 1
d3d11_TripleBuffering = 1
d3d9_TripleBuffering = 1
r_multiGPU = 0
r_MultiThreaded = 1
r_stereodevice = 0
r_UsePOM = 0
sys_budget_soundCPU = 5
sys_budget_videomem = 512
sys_job_system_max_worker = 2
r_TexturesStreaming = 2
s_NumLoadingThreadsToUse = 2
sys_budget_fps = 45
sys_MaxFPS = 45
e_AutoPrecacheCgfMaxTasks = 2
e_CoverageBuffer = 2
r_ShadersAsyncMaxThreads = 2
r_silhouettePOM = 0
e_ViewDistMin = 1
g_ragdollUnseenTime = 1
r_Beams = 2
e_PhysFoliage = 0
sys_spec_Physics = 1
v_vehicle_quality = 1
es_MaxPhysDistInvisible = 1
e_CullVegActivation = 1
e_ObjectLayersActivationPhysics = 0
e_OnDemandPhysics = 0
e_PhysOceanCell = 2
p_cull_distance = 1
p_num_threads = 2
sys_limit_phys_thread_count = 0
sys_physics = 1
e_DeferredPhysicsEvents = 1
e_ParticlesCullAgainstViewFrustum = 1
e_ParticlesGI = 0
e_ParticlesLights = 0
e_ParticlesObjectCollisions = 0
e_ParticlesPoolSize = 0
r_UseGSParticles = 1
r_UseParticlesGlow = 0
r_UseSoftParticles = 0
e_GsmCache = 1
r_ShadowBlur = 0

q_ShaderWater = 0
e_WaterTessellationAmountX = 1
e_WaterTessellationAmountY = 1
r_WaterCaustics = 0
r_WaterGodRays = 0
r_WaterReflections = 0
r_WaterReflectionsQuality = 0
r_WaterTessellationHW = 1
r_WaterUpdateDistance = 2
r_WaterUpdateFactor = 0.9

ca_thread0Affinity =  0
ca_thread1Affinity = 0
r_WaterUpdateThread = 0
sys_main_CPU = 0
sys_physics_CPU = 0
sys_streaming_CPU = 0
sys_TaskThread0_CPU = 0
sys_TaskThread1_CPU = 0
sys_TaskThread2_CPU = 0
sys_TaskThread3_CPU = 0

I think you'll also have to set everything to low, and turn off the damage glow. You might be able to bump the Textures to medium, but 512MB of DDR3 isn't gon'a go very far …

Note that you must use DX9: https://en.wikipedia...orce_200_series

I'm guessing "r_MultiThreaded = 1" is OK: Might need to be a zero …

There's also "sys_budget_streamingthroughput" where you type in 1024 times the number you get from saying "winsat mem" into a commmand prompt.

Going into nVidia Contol Panel, you'll look up MWOClient.exe and set the Vertical sync to Adaptive, Threaded optimization to Auto, Texture filtering - Quality to High Performance, - negitive LOD bias to Allow, both things with "optimization" in there names to On, Multi-display to Single Performance, Maximum pre-rendered frames to 3 or less, Antialasing - Transparency to Multi or Off, and Anisotropic filtering to ~4, at a guess.

Good luck, man …

Thank you for this complex set up and advice.

However, I have about 4 GBs of DDR3 RAM. Not 512MB

I'll definitely use your recommended settings for NVIDIA.

This is all much appreciated.

Ah, my mistake, I thought you were talking about the RAM. Yes, the Graphics card is 512 only. That used to be old, 5 years ago :huh:

I'm planning on upgrading to a far better rig very soon.

EDIT: soon in this case means, before 2015

Are those commands actually taken by the game? Last I knew is that MWO only takes certain (whitelisted by devs) cryengine commands in user.cfg unless you do further modifications to the MWO files.

Sorry, shoulda updated you guys sooner.

I don't think many of the cfg commands worked. However, I have had a jump of a few frames in performance. Can't expect more than that with a graphics card like that. The nvidia settings seem to have helped as well. I still need to turn off damage glow. We'll see what happens after that.

While Teh Gold Standard is "minimum of 45," Teh Silver Standard is "a steady 45," and I'm fond of starting there. Too fond, it would seem: Let us "settle for less," and try for Bronze:
sys_budget_fps = 30
sys_MaxFPS = 30

It's counter-intuitive, but framerate limits bring up the minimum fps by keeping the card from panicking in the first place.

But, yeah: Gaming on a GT210 …

Thank you. I'll embed those two lines in there, and see what happens.

Honestly, if I can get a steady 25, I'm happy.
