It's no secret that many Battletech fans adore Dire Wolf aka Daishi and that thousands of players await its arrival!

Do you love it? Do you want to pilot it? I sure do!

And it will arrive!

However, there's one "little" problem.

Here is its canon picture:

Looks good, right?

And the initial concept art of Dire Wolf also looked very good:

But the latest pictures of it (revealed yesterday) look simply disgusting. The actual model has the ugliest cockpit ever (too big and stretched too low!) and the not-canon-est hood ever (too huge and massive). Apart from their own ugliness, they make the hands and legs look tiny and disproportionate! See for yourself:

So, the question is:

Do you also like the canon (and the concept art) Dire Wolf better, guys?

If you do, the devs MUST hear us. Hear and listen. For a change, maybe?

Sigh. You haven't looked at the media page yet, have you? Or even the front page? Once again, the 'Mech looks much better in-game than in their silly renders.

Frankly the Dire Wolf is pretty spot on. If you want a 'Mech to complain about, the Timber Wolf is still rather hideous...

I HAVE looked at the media page.

Dire Wolf looks just as ugly there as at this render: ugly cockpit (still too big and stretched too low), ugly massive hood, the hands and legs still look disproportionate.

The concept art would look even better with a touch of grey or tan along with black for the camo effect but the rainbow color please may as well paint it all pink. The clans are not much for flash as they are for warfare.

I don't know why you're complaining, just think of it as the Clan's answer to the Atlas! :)

To prove my point about that massive ugly hood - here's what Dire Wolf (Daishi) looked like in Mechwarrior 3 and Mechwarrior 4 - as you can see, practically no hood at all!
And it looks lovely, doesn't it?

Not a big deal.
I consider the Kit Fox having such a tiny cockpit a problem.

It IS a big deal!

A mech, favourite for many players in the whole Battletech universe, looks utterly ugly! How come it's not a big deal?

'Many' is an exaggeration.
Everyone has their favorite and for many, it is NOT the Dire Wolf.
Heck, Mechs already in game are worse off in scale than this one.
The issues you list are minor compared with things like the size of Trebuchets and Quickdraws.
The bulk of an Awesome.
The Hunchback and Catapult weapon meshes.
The Kit Fox cockpit size.
If all Mech problems were on a scale, any issues with this one are little compared to others.

OK, I agree, there are a lot of other problems too.

But this topic - obviously - is mainly for people who care about Dire Wolf :D ...and whose hearts bleed when they see THAT kind of ugly face of the beloved Mech.

I love the Daishi and i really love the new one, though at first i was rather dubious: the front picture you selected is ugly; but the in-game footages are amazing.

Yea, I never been played any mechwarrior game before MWO, so I am not stuck in the past and I like this designs of mechs.

I was waiting for ingame pics of this new mechs and when they release it and then I bought WARHAWK and DIRE WOLF cose I lke how they looks. Its simple, If you like it buy, if not wait for another mechs, there are plenty of them :)

These side torsos on the Direwolf remind me of... of...

The entire mech has a wig.... can we paint it white?

may be devs not have time, but here, there isn't love for the design, copy the hood of the warhawk and paste to a daishi, just use that copy paste tool like the previous MWO mechs.

No. It IS STILL ugly because:
1) the cockpit is still a bit too large (and thus it looks a bit disproportional)
2) (and it's the saddest point) the hood is massive and stupid

You see, Dire Wolf is supposed to have practically NO HOOD.
But here it's huge - so huge as if it's supposed to protect the cockpit from the rain. But it's not!
Above the cockpit there should be only sky - that's the canon concept of Dire Wolf (Daishi).

Again, compare THIS with the canon Mechwarrior 3 and Mechwarrior 4 Dire Wolfes and see the hood difference:

http://home.roadrunn...eens/daishi.jpg

http://i742.photobuc.../screen0211.jpg

I have a guess of my own: maybe, the devs decided to give Dire Wolf a huge hood so that it would be easier to aim and damage Dire Wolf (or else it would be too powerful - maybe they thought like this).
But still, it's totally unfair to do such a mean thing to such a great 'Mech.

it is funny to see people make a stand for a crappy designed mechs. ;) Open your eyes! MWo version is ugly, but Sarna's version is even uglier. There's no such thing as beautiful Daishi mech. At least I've never seen one, and I looked thoroughly. It was always depicted as a toadlike chunky huge mech.
If you want to put a blame on someone, put it on Clan 'mech fappers, who moan about their beloved horrible Sarna designs not being repeated litterally. You guys are the reason why PGI artists never dared to draw a decent sketch of a Clan Mech.

They did do a decent sketch of the Daishi which was different from the sarna pic.

And then they took a massive dump on it and gave us this warhawk-hauptmant oversized pumma mechbomination.

In all honesty they need to just flatten the nose zone a bit and tweak the arm and leg proportions a bit.

At a very minimum the hood need to go back a bit and stop looking like a mech elvis tier hairstyle.

You know what I wonder?
If you really think about it, aside from the polygon camo one...
it seems like the "Prime" variant has a huge head and this one, the obviously cbill one...doesn't.

I find it hard to believe they both have the same head. I really do.

Perhaps windscreen wipers are clan lostech and they solved it with a nice plateau. Anyway, I don't mind the plateau much and like the idea of the clans sharing some visual cues (plus, perhaps you can place a MASSIVE custom decal on that platform? Please?)

The airbus-type cockpit just looks so tame. A minor change in the cockit layout (MW3 style or whatever) to add some characted might help.... otherwise it feels you are under attack... by...

Quit bitching. It is exactly as expected from Clan mechs, fugly.

Separately, calling MW3 or MW4 cannon is pretty silly. Look at the Sarna pic, not at low-poly optimized garbage from old games.
