Enough is enough.

To all the people COMPLAINING about the founders packs, refusing to buy it, etc... Thats fine. But please stop flaming, trolling, and posting about it already.Keep it to yourselves. If you don't want to pay money up front for any extras then dont.

I see the founders packs as NO different to "Collectors Editions" "Digital Deluxe Editions" etc that a large number of other games and companies produce to ramp up revenue and excitement. In fact I think they are great. You get $80 bucks value of currency, which a majority of players at some point in the game will probably spend out for one thing or another. And amongst other things your name gets put into the credits for the higher tier pack. While not a huge deal for most - thats one of the coolest and most unique incentives I have seen for any game.

I have played many many MMO's the past decade. Very few of them did NOT offer some form of "bonus special" or collectors edition or whatever. Why are you criticizing Pirahna for the same thing you have probably paid some other company for?

How many people complaining about Founders Packs have bought a Collectors edition of a Call of Duty game? Or of another MMO? How many people have Subscriptions for F2P games because you get extra perks?

Plenty.

As someone already mentioned STO is F2P and has (or had) a lifetime sub offer. LOTRO was still offering lifetime subs for a limited time when it went F2P. Other F2P titles have offered extras for subs or limited offer incentive packs.

Theres complaints about paying for an unfinished, unknown product. Again, how many MILLIONS of copies of other games have sold out Collectors Editions, etc, before a game has ever been released or reviewed?

The answer is, too many to count.

In Australia EB Games sold out of the Collectors Edition of GuildWars2 within days of that release. I guarantee you that a large percentage of those buying it bought it solely over hype, expectation, and excitement over what they hope will be a great game. There is nothing wrong with that.

Stop knocking Pirahna for putting together some unique packages and doing something which most other companies out there are already doing. You must either have been living in a box the past decade or be very inexperienced with PC Gaming (MMO's in particular) if you havn't realized this trend. And when I say trend I say it with no bitterness or thought that it isnt right. If you dont want extras or perks or bonuses simply dont pay for it.

Just stop whining to the rest of us over it.

It's the innernets, people will be people. In general, they're happier if they have to pay. If you give them a choice, they get confused and become unhappy and complain it's unfair.

Diehards claim ownership to this game, regardless who develops it PIRANHA or otherwise. Years back i played mech games from the analog PC screens...green mechs to mechwarrior series ..and mechcommander all in PC platform. With this development i will take pride being a part of the breathing mechs...

The expectations are high though... I know Piranha realizes the need to really work hard on this one. We'll soon find out.

I was going to spend $120, then I read more posts asking to actually see what they are going to get for it. Even a single player game gets a small demo for half the price.

So I'm joining that argument.

Give it a couple of months and there will be players in this forum complaining about how they wish they never spent $120. There always is in every game, every kind of argument and complaint. So many users in this forum have spent the $120, they behave as if its nothing, but just wait and see. Some of them will have some complaint to make one day and their tune will change about their payment. Granted not all and most will be happy, like I probably will be.

I too think I will love the game, but it is not the point. My own customers for my own software get a refund if they are not happy and they pay about $140. They also get endless videos, tutorials, endless page of documentation, they get to speak to myself directly, they get access to beta, trials etc

I won't get a refund for my $120 on this if it launches, no rights. Only with software can they get away with that, despite this being a service that can be stopped from their end. Many developers ethics are poor especially in MMO game development. So I realised I don't want to encourage this behaviour in software development when the software is provided via a controlled web service, not a stand alone product for Windows. They are hiding behind the old software no return excuse, desptie it not applying in the slightest because this is a service.

They could issue even 1 hour of beta access and I want that first. That is my change of position since a couple of days ago.

When I have no trial for my software, customers don't want to pay $20 never mind $120. Let me see the game please, thanks.

I am hoping that the game is as good as I hope and that is why i "thrrew" my money at them to help get it going the packs are just the funding to get it going and pay for the development. I hope they also have ingame items that we can pay for if not then they may have to resort to advertisments in middle of battles to off set operational cost. Who wnat sot se a coke add just before you kill that atlas that took out 3 of your mates?? I don't so keep up the great work PG, and from a fellow canadian I am proud you are from canada!!!

Paying the $120 won't mean you don't suffer from ther F2P model. They still want to make more money out of you and they already have your $120. That is how these games work, they push boxes or weekly special offers.

Congratulations you have been elected to get 50% off all ammo for today only, that kind of stuff.

It's coming to you and everyone else.
