Actually I noticed more "I paid so I'm a fan, you haven't so your not" attitude in the forum than the other way around, maybe I'm not reading enough.

Both viewpoints are pointless and wrong. If you want to pay upfront and take a chance on something you haven't played yet, that is up to you, and likewise if you don't.

I'll probably buy some sort of package upfront over the next week or so, I'm thinking about it, but I don't care if someone pays more or not at all, it is up to them. Just by being on these forums and showing interest in the game your supporting the game and the company, and make no mistake, the amount of "free" players will far outweigh those who pay, and it will be those players who decide the longevity of this game not those paying. Because they are the ones who will be making the micro transactions that keep this game afloat, and provide the large player base to keep it going.

All discussions from one polar view or another are equally ignorant.

I played WoT (World of Tanks) for 12 months during Beta, and another 12 months as a paying customer. I mention this game because it is of a very similar format and had similar offers and funding structure, and I already know how this one will work more or less based on that experience. Even after 12 months of Beta I paid for extra tanks, premium tanks, premium account status, and extras such as gold ammo. I spent more on that game than on any other previous MMO fixed monthly charge, literally hundreds of £'s over the course of 12 months, more than any other game I have ever played (possible exception is live poker).

I have computer gamed for over 20 years, and been a fan of Battletech for most of them. I think it was 88 or 89 when I got my first Mechwarrior game, and have had many since. Mercenaries is still my favourite.

Whether I decide to get a forum tag saying I paid up front or not has zero bearing on whether I would like to support this game or not.

I got my $120 in the paypal I use for this stuff, early this morning. Came on forum and read posts from people acting all big and special.

I also seen posts from people demanding beta play before buying. I thought, why the hell not. Won't get anything without asking, why not wait a bit longer and not rush into it.

Buying in a week does not get anything less. So I'm waiting and I'm not asking for beta play in every thread I can lol

lol 380+ posts out of a guy who doesnt like the game xD get a life sir :)

Dude I love MechWarrior and MMO's

Where did I say I didn't like the game? This is the attitude that comes out when people think paying for something entitles them. Your entitled to nothing including telling me, a developer, a father, a business owner and a proud x-soldier...to get a life.

I am the very defination of life.

Diehards claim ownership to this game, regardless who develops it PIRANHA or otherwise. Years back i played mech games from the analog PC screens...green mechs to mechwarrior series ..and mechcommander all in PC platform. With this development i will take pride being a part of the breathing mechs...

The expectations are high though... I know Piranha realizes the need to really work hard on this one. We'll soon find out.

Yeah, that's the way I feel. This game has been a looong time coming and the franchise has quite a storied history, so Piranha really has a high bar to jump over to make this a success and I am not comforted by they're game dev history. Hopefully, this will be a rainmaker for them.

I personally don't care if it is free to play or cost $100 bux. If it is good, I will play and pay and want the company to make buckets of money off of it so they will continue to develop it.

Well if you really want to deal with the complainers then the simplest thing to do is: make a list of their names, then once you find one of them in a fight - Destroy EVERY piece of their mech in a fight. Then do a happy dance over them with jump jets (if you have them) and scream "I've got your founders mech RIGHT HERE!"
