http://www.sarna.net/wiki/Canon
MechWarrior:Online is a video game (last I checked) and video games are included in the list marked as general non-inclusive regarding canonicity. I see reference to sarna thrown around much on these forums, so I am assuming that it is an accepted reference for MechWarrior/BattleTech Universe material for most people. I also assume many of the people that are playing this game have played other MechWarrior video game titles, in addition to table top and such. (Yes, I understand the risks involved with ass.u.me).
This is not to say PGI cannot or should not attempt to follow established canon. It should, however, free them up to do some of the tinkering suggested earlier in this thread, such as taking census of the active MW:O clans and using those clans in the invasion. You know, the sort of tinkering that will keep this game limping along on its life-support?
If it really is for the community, shouldn't they listen to the community at some point?
Just my two cents... Thanks for reading.

A. i am happy that diamond sharks nova cats and steel vipers are getting representation,
B i am unhappy that there not going to allow them to do it soon having to wait a year to fly there colors is unfair to the players.
C. it looks like clan coyote got the shaft, and considering there strong presence as a community both in and out of the game itself i think is a bit of a problem, they already said that the cannon may be thrown out the window depending on player actions,
If the inner sphere has the capacity to push back the invasion with there "superior" inner sphere meta technology, then the clans should be able to call in reinforcements from clan coyote,
because sending 175 clanners out on there ass to choose a clan that they do not personly want to identify is counter to building a cohesive and happy community. put there tag in PGI free the coyote and give them a tag for all of us.

The Blood Spirits are present, in treaty with the Ghost Bears. We are represented.
PGI has played so fast and loose with the Canon that we who claim Clan allegiance can do reasonable things with our Trothkin.
Ignore the canon limits placed upon us and fight the Inner Sphere dezgra.
You know we can defeat them, even if Clan tech is nerfed to suit PGI's view of the Clans.
Neither Crusader nor Warden, We are CLAN!
Above all else, remember that fact. Do not forget the path that Nikolas set us all upon!
MW:O is NOT Battletech any longer. Take charge of the future of the game.
Neither Crusader nor Warden, We are CLAN!
Onward to Terra! (regardless of what PGI intends the game to be)
NEITHER CRUSADER NOR WARDEN, WE ARE CLAN!

As we can see that all Clans will not be released in the first shot, and if they stay somewhat with the timeline CHH doesn't enter the Inner Sphere officially for sometime.

fixed wording and brain fart, *sigh* I hate 16 day rotations

We already proposed this to the Blood Spirits who have accepted.

Hello Galenthor Storm,
About adding a tag to the game? Forums, like any other suggestion. I wouldn't be surprised if more Clan tags get added at a later date however.
Thank you for contacting MechWarrior® Online™ Customer Support.
how is this considered to be solved? it's not imho...

I know it doesn't work that way with what they've told us. I'm just saying that it would be a perfect mech for me if I could do that. I'll probably just replace the lasers with some PPCs and ammo. Clan PPCs and Clan Large Pulse Lasers have the same weight and amount of crit slots, unless they decide to change that. We'll just see whenever Mad Dog is added.
At least they are planning to at least add 3 more clans later if everything goes smoothly.

Figured that a bare minimum of 18 DHS is required for 2xERPPC, and that is only if you poptart, assuming current ERPPC heat and DHS values hold for Clan mechs (which they should). 19 is ideal bare minimum, 21 is ideal, 23 is excellent for main gunning the twin ERPPC.

I'll be replacing the Large Pulses with the Clan PPCs no matter what since they take up the same space+tonnage. I'll also remove the Medium Pulse Lasers as well which saves 4 tons. I'll do 1 of two things:
#1 Add 4 tons of ammo to make it more LRM focused.
#2 Add 2 tons of ammo, downgrade the LRMs to LRM 10s (saving 5 tons), and add 7 Heat sinks to make it more PPC focused.
#3 Add 3 tons of ammo, Downgrade the LRms to 15s (saving 3 tons), add 4 heat sinks
6 tons of ammo really isn't enough ammo for LRMs imo even if you are just hitting stationary targets, so I'll probably go with #2 since I'll be able to fire more often, while not making the PPCs terrible, but I may go #3 If I feel daring with heat. Too bad I can't downgrade the PPCs like I can with LRMs. I'd prefer to have it be Missle focused with PPCs supporting, but there's just not going to be enough tonnage for that on a Mad Dog.
I can see why so few mechs do the PPC + LRM combo unless they are assaults, or only do a single of each now though.
Whatever the case is, whatever the Mad Dog can do, the Timber Wolf can do better as the Timber Wolf has the same speed, better armor, and better firepower (with the S being able to have Jumpjets), only downside is that it's bigger (which isn't much of a downside when people probably won't miss you anyways in MWO). Hopefully Mad Dog gets a bunch of cool quirks for it. I doubt it'll get the ability to look behind itself like in MW4 though.

Bah I really want to use Smurfy for the clan mechs right now.
Sorry for the mini-derail. To bring it back to the topic. I think one problem they may have is finding special bonuses for each of the new clans if they get added while keeping those bonuses balanced. They did say there will be certain perks so you can do things with faction loyality points right? What do you think they will do for bonuses for each clan?

This will let us "unaffiliated clans" still be clans, and work toward goals as a united front. While I would prefer to have Clan Coyote tags before Clan Diamond Shark tags first, simply because of the MWO player base, I realize this may never happen. I believe the generic Clan tag is a decent compromise.
