What's up with the new update? Now every player who joins the game has a lovely 12 Mech's covering almost every play style? What's the point of even buying a Mech if I already have a double-xp loaded champion Atlas, with 3 more assaults at the ready? I thought the whole point of using 'TRIAL' Mech's was to introduce new players into the game, giving them limitations, choosing 1 of their 4 Mech's to go into battle with and sticking with it, disciplining themselves to learn its play style and mastering its weapons. Now it's just choose a 'Mech, play, finish, and move onto another. The whole POINT of Trial 'Mechs was for their purpose to be TRIALS, not an all out buffet of almost every champion ever. Your meant to give new players limitations and force them to learn the Mech's given to them, so they can progress and have Mech's of their own. Now, it's just "Hello new Player! Here's half the ******* Mechlab!" Please tell me someone see's this as stupid too? Anyone?

Very wrong... you earn XP, otherwise what's the purpose of the grind then?

To earn the c-bills that allow you to get your own customizable mech which does earn XP along with C-bills. Like I said, been a long time since I used one.

But why are you so mad about this?
What's wrong with giving new players a bit more variety to try out different play styles, so that they can find something that works for them a bit easier? Also, by allowing them to use a wider range of chassis, they can get a better idea of which chassis they'd like to invest their c-bills in.
It's not like they can change the loadouts on the trials - to get the full MWO experience you still have to purchase a 'Mech to enjoy any sort of customization. And more importantly, you can't SPEND any XP you earn with a trial unless you buy the 'Mech, so you don't get to use any of the efficiency upgrades (which can drastically alter a 'Mech's effectiveness).
TL;DR: calm down, dude. And nice first post - welcome to the forums.

I could swear that using a Trial Mech you get XP... and being that you don't own it you cannot unlock efficiency upgrades as you stated. At least from my experience.

You can get XP. Not entirely sure if you get 10% more with the trial as with the real champion and if you do I'm sure PGI will change that (defeats the purpose of buying said champion). I'm personally using it to milk some extra x2 experience for my regular versions.
Atlas RS needs experience?
Run it. Win. 2x experience.
Need more?
Atlas RS champion trial mech.
Win. 2x experience.
Wait til next day.
Ahhh.. farming at its best.
No unlocks apply to the trial mechs, however.

Yeah, you do earn XP - just not double as the OP claimed. And you still can't spend that earned XP until you buy the 'Mech.

And that double applies to every mech in your stable. Daily I have over 100 mechs with that + the trial mechs.
