Yes you shouldn't live long enough to shoot more than 3 tons (6000 rounds --> 100 seconds non stop dakka) at that range.
I haven't so far at least :'(

Though for me as a force of habit (in beta when LRMs were 1.7 damage each) I run AMS on all my builds - save for the Raven-3L and Cicada-3M - which keeps me safe from LRM5 to LRM10 attacks. But also helps to provide missile defence to nearby friendly mechs. After all a dead friendly cannot draw the foe's attention away from you :)

Wait... why shouldn't i live that long? lol I try to survive to match-end no matter what i'm piloting or what game mode I'm in. That's the whole point!

However, i am definitely considering dropping some MG ammo on my build to up my ERLL to either PPCs, or an LB10x.

Because BJ doesn't have much armor and engagement range is <200 meters = you, me and every other MG Arrow should die pretty fast while engaging.

Maybe that's how you clanners fight... but i'm IS... and i have 2ERLLs that allow me to engage at 700ms and that's what i do until my target is showing red on at least one torso.

I won't close and try brawling with weak-ass MGs unless i'm sure i'm going to kill somebody. That's just crazy/clanner.

I have to admit that I don't know sh*t about BT/TT/Lore I have just played all MW/MC games and love them...
but my understanding is that Clanners like to stay on range? with their insanely long range compared to IS?

Or remove 1/2 ton of armor (16 points) which doesn't affect that much of the mech :rolleyes:

IS ER Mediums and Smalls, just not worth it, in any way shape or form. Heck, in old TT, the Large was almost never worth it, especially if paired, due to the heat.

Not actually.

That is one of the silly braindead things that many long time players never liked about the clans, and something that Randall Bills has slowly been trying to change since he took over like a decade ago,.

The design teams that came up with Clan weapons, and those that did the lore were wildly off in their approach. The Clans, by nature are brutal, in your face, no deception, might makes right dueling culture. They don't do hand to hand in mechs, but also tend to view sniping and artillery as less than honorable. (You'll notice at least most Clans I have played with) when they have their various tests, it's a pretty small circle you are constrained to fight in. Ghost Bears do this, for instance). The Clan Weapons on the other hand were designed as these ultra elegant massively long range precision killing weapons.

The two just don't fit together right. That is why in the late 90s Randall introduced Clan Heavy Lasers, for instance, because with their massive damage outlay and shorter range, if fit Clan Culture, as defined in lore, much better.

I'm reading books all the time, just not BT books so far... could get few if they are cheap'ish @ amazon or other webshop

I love mine.... around 400 damage or so each drop and its fun to play. Not a tank but... it isn't supposed to be.

I feel like there is an "arrow to the knee" joke somewhere in here...but nothing sounds amusing or funny. The fact it is an old joke doesn't help either.

Still, that many MGs on a BJ sounds interesting. I bet with it's speed, that can be a menacing loadout up close.
