I'm looking at the clan mechs whenever I have to patch. They look cool. I startet playing Battletech around when the clans were introduced, and love how they are way better than IS mechs. Now, I wonder how they will play out in MWO?

I'd hope that clan mechs would not be balanced into the 12 man teams, but start up in 5-stars or 10-binarys (perhaps the latter would be the best).

Does anybody know?

They're not doing asymmetrical drops. Rather, PGI plans to change clan weapon mechanics to make them less broken in the hope that they can do 12v12 with either IS v Clan or mixed teams.

Some of them will be OP, some of them will be UP, and some of them will be "just right." Clan balance is going to be all over the place most likely.

-so the clan mechs will be tweaked to be just as "bad" as inner sphere mechs, or they plan to put clans on both sides, to balance things out???

The IS mechs will, in most cases, be better.

You can optimise them, while the Clan mechs are stuck with their equipment. Some will be better for the tonnage, of course, but can't be min maxed very well.

Didn't the DEv's post that there tweaking Clan weapons to balance the Clan and IS mechs?

Hm, but won't even the clan weapons be better??? What's the point in introducing the clan-mechs, if they're going to be Ladas desguized as Lamborghinis?

Because clan mechs sell (especially if you sell them before anyone knows how nerfed they are). PGI cares more about money than BT lore.

They will be different. UACs are going to be burst; the 20 fires 5 shots eachs doing 4 damage per trigger pull, with the option to shoot 10 rounds for 40 damage, assuming it doesn't jam.

ER and pulse lasers will both have longer burn times than their IS conterparts, for increased damage (only in some cases) and increased range.

Some weapons will certainly be more powerful, others might not change much.

Yeah, they're basically just going to be aesthetically what we remember AFAIK. The tech is going to be levelled off to make it more balanced with IS tech; if it wasn't, there'd literally be no reason (once you had the money to buy them, anyways) to buy IS 'Mechs instead of Clan 'Mechs. And why would the Devs want all their hard work on IS tech to be wasted just like that? :)

I thought that they would tweak them some, and only allow them in 10-man teams. But that would perhaps make waiting longer. If you had to pay more for them, many would prefere to stay with the IS mechs IMO. Many others would stick to them for fluff-reasons. It will be strange to have a Centurion fighting side by side with a Nova :)

For the general PUG queue, yes.

CW might be different. But the solaris arena has no factions.

Damn that sucks. I would have wished for a 12vs10 scenario, 3 lances vs 2 stars....with slightly better weapons for clans

But we have to consider all of the special snowflakes (which is why customization also exists).

Duel ultra ac 10/ ultra ac 2 will be the new meta, with people crying for nerfs because of screen shake.

Yeah, won't be playing much the coming weeks/months before CW is released. If I can be bothered to rejoin then. Mixed teams? No thanks.

I still dont believe that CW will ever come out and be more than just some spreadsheets on the website....

They're going to receive a succession of nerfs, leaving the majority of their weapon systems anemic at best.

They should be fun to play at first, but the most fun aspects (like the burst fire autocannons) will get toned down for the same reason that hexa ac/2s were toned down.
