I just got 3 very cheap LG monitors with a free Matrox Triplehead2go. Sadly its not really working with my PC and MWO. My PC is just to old i guess. So I am wondering is it worth one last upgrade of my trusty old PC or is it time for a new PC? My system as it stands is

MB: ASUS M3A32-MVP
RAM: 8GB DDR2 1150 OCZ CL5
CPU: AMD Phenom ii X6 1100T
GFX: 3 X ATI HD4870

The only thing I see I could easily upgrade is to replace the 3 old graphics cards with 1 modern one. But even then could my system drive 3 HD monitors?

Thanks

I would update the Motherboard and RAM to DDR3 and the Graphics cards.
I'm not sure what your budget is or the wattage or performance of the 4870 in Tri XFire (Guessing 6-700+W for the Graphics alone), but getting this should be safe for starters:

Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 Motherboard
8GB (2x4GB) of G.Skill Ripsaw X Series DDR3-1866 CAS 9 RAM
Sapphire 7970GHz Edition 3GB GDDR5

Total Cost: $691.75 US

The 7970 Blows the 4870 Out of the water and due to lack of official SLI/XFire Support for MWO, you would be limited to 1 Card Anyway, and I think your CPU should still be decent, more so if you can OC it.

I don't know that anyone has a feel for what big resolution does to CPU requirements.

All the new cards will drive three monitors now'n days, but if you want a framerate out of that, you need to spend a lot

I run three and three GTX680's and MWO dies, any other game works great. If you have questions on it let me know.

I'm running three monitors in a 5760x1080 resolution on a single, factory overclocked 7970GHz and I'm getting 35 to 45 fps out of it. So on that end, it might be possible, if you replace your old cards (your energy bill will thank you for it as well).

I do have a more potent CPU then you and seeing how much MWO is dependent on a good CPU, yours might not get the same results. Overclocking might help you with that.

If you not going to change the processor then that would help a lot but I I hate saying it I changed to a intle I7 4770K and it rocks the game. This game even with my R9 270X(rebranded 7870) rocks I dont; even imagine what it would d with a 7970 or a R9 280X and I don't eve want to know what a R9 290 or R9290X would do to this game. But your still going tto only get so much unless you change out processor or overclock it.

If you have a Micro Center near you they have deals on CPU that are usually cheaper than Newegg price even when they have a good deal the only thing is you have to go into store to get them also check out Fry's has some good deals on processor.

Here the difference between the 2 cards:

If there's no Budget:
http://pcpartpicker.com/p/DMFdrH
http://pcpartpicker....rH/by_merchant/
I7-4770K
Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming G1 WIFI-BK
G.Skill Ripsaws Z Series 32GB (4X8GB) DDR3-2133MHz CAS 9
Samsung 840 EVO 1TB SSD
Quad R9 290X
LEPA G Series 1600W 80+ Gold Fully Modular
Total Cost: $3988.37 US

If That won't Play MWO on 3 Screens at 1080P+ Per Monitor I don't know what will.
