Shut up and buy the Masakari package. They'll let you know what you're getting later.

Well that is actually explaining that some mechs have hardwired equipment. In this case "equipment" is just about anything you put on your mech, not necessarily things you find under "equipment" in your MWO mechlab.

The base model is what is important here. The TROs give the critical space allocations for all fixed equipment like endo and ferro crits, the Adder's flamer, jump jets on the Nova and Summoner. All are listed under a particular section. But in the same book the the Warhawk's targeting computer is not listed in that section.

Honestly though, its not too big of a deal if it is hardwired. Playing around with SSW it appears you can easily make some nasty builds even with it eating up space.

Warhawk's TC is not fixed equipment, but practically every normal config incorporates it.

EDIT Adder is an odd OmniMech with its fixed Flamer. Not sure if this is incorporated in MWO.

I've seen wiki entries, TROs, and programs designed to assist with building your mech for table top say it is not.

I've seen one line of fluff that suggests it is.

Well, the 3050 TRO states that the basic computing boards are built onto the base chassis, but then goes on to skip it in the list of fixed equipment. It could be taken either way, though I would go with the list and say it is not fixed.

That would be the single line of fluff he mentioned.

Ah ok, it sin the command chair section.

They are referring to specific equipment listed in the mech stats as being part of the base chassis (no the prime config is not the base chassis, or there couldn't be alternate configs).

Hate to say it, but odds are it's going to end up being another Albatross like the Command Console.

It would be REAL easy to make it work, and work well, if they could figure out how to fix the convergence thing....which is kind of surprising, since every other 1st person shooter out there (even ones on CryEngine) seem to be able to get things to spread out. Think of every game you've ever played that has some kind of machinegun on it. I don't see why they can't program that same effect into MW:O and then have modules and the Targeting Computer lessen the degree of the spread.

Kinda like what Day of Defeat did with the bipod or prone position when firing a machinegun. Just saying.

As for the Command Console...on the one hand, I agree with the crowd that says a Command Console should be required for arty/air strikes. To a point, that makes sense. Not everyone has a direct line to the Fire Direction Control center. The downside is that you need a Heavy or Assault to mount one, since it's basically an extra cockpit.

Command Consoles will to be required to use Consumable Modules.

Just kidding, PGI wont do that, consumables are the 'economy' in mwo.

Oh, they could add CoF, but they won't. Too many screaming tantrums about how point-n-click is "skill" but point-n-click while adjusting tactics on the fly to account for variables not totally in one's control is somehow not "skill".

Personally, I think the number of people that actually care about it that much is very low (though vocal). I feel that the game would not only be better off if they actually did take their play somewhere else, but would be more attractive to new players and more likely to retain other existing players by both said absence and more tactical gameplay with much less chance being (nearly) insta-gibbed.

I could get behind a small cone of fire for recoil weapons (all ballistics, gauss, PPCs). Lasers don't need CoF.

Targeting computer is not hardwired, because the weight and size depends on how many guns you have. It's just almost all variants of the warhawk have one, for obvious reasons of how OP it is in CBT.

Yeah that's what fooled me. I checked the variants and saw the TC in all of them (at least, the ones I looked at), and assumed hardwiring. Never checked the base config though.

Well according to TT any Omni mech can equip a targetting computer, ECM, or Jump jets. Got 20 tons of pod space? Hello 40 ERsmLas (er forgot crit slots but you get my drift.) If you have the tonnage and crit slots you can equip it. But then one weapon system wasn't clearly better than any other in the TT. Not like here.

It's only MWOs wacky hard point system that makes this an issue.
