As you may have heard, Unit Pre-Registration has mostly completed. We have seen over 400 amazing entries for Pre-Registration and are eagerly completing some last checks to ensure ownership is going to the right hands and that names follow the rules regarding lore-based names.
Today, we are pleased to announce yet another change to our designs inspired by members of the Community: We will be making Unit Tags unique.
The concerns raised by a number of players since we showed off the design ranged from fears of other units using their tag and symbol for the purposes of trolling to simply a desire for a unique identifier. We took these concerns under consideration and tend to agree that this change will be a positive one for the future of Community Warfare, competitive gaming, and casual gaming preferences here on MWO.
What this change means is that, just like the Unit Name, the Tag which appears in-game on the scoreboard will also be a unique for that unit. Please note that this system will NOT differentiate between upper and lower case letters at this time.
Similarly, to address the edge-case that there are some 2 to 4 letter designations for NPC factions, we will be adding the abbreviations for various House, Clan and other major Factions into the filter list. (e.g. FWL, MAR, AFFS, CSJ, etc...)
Those who have pre-registered using a duplicate or filtered Unit Tag will be contacted shortly to have their Unit Tag changed in our records. For Tags, unlike names, priority will simply be on the first-come first-serve basis. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience as a result of this change and we greatly appreciate your understanding as this is a change we believe the majority of the community has asked for and will enjoy.
Please let us know your thoughts on the matter!
