IMO, the easiest way of differentiating the same unit names (due to lack of character space) is allowing unique unit colors (you have 3 for each mech, so 3 should be more than enough given the range/list of colors in this game), ideally those picked by the group's leader and sold for a discount (ideally free) to the team members (once those players leave, they can't keep the colors or sell them back or whatever). These colors can be shown in the scoreboard screens to differentiate players and their TAGs.

So, a solution that is friendly to color blind people?

Love the Unique tags as it will help give units an actual identity. So with the unique tags is there any chance we could get unit insignia's on our mechs to fully represent our unit?

If you wanted something simpler, you should be able to highlight the unit tag pre+post match and get the full name of the unit.

For the colors, you could just "hover over" said colors for the exact color name (I cannot be bothered to figure out every color shade).

No, thank you, but if there are any problems, just let me know, please?

None of the Australian Units that I know of have anything like AU in them. We tend to use AUS as an abbreviation. AU is more of an internet convention as in .com.au. I wouldn't worry about it unless someone makes a specific complaint, which I cant see happening.

By the way excellent work on this Niko. People like to know where they stand even if they don't like the result. I look forward to see in a lot of creative names in MWO.

Here we go! I have removed all additional info from this except the post number on the Pre-Registration thread, the Pilot name of the owner of the unit, and the name and tag provided.

If you see a red highlight, it indicates the Name or Tag provided was removed due to the rules of unit names and tags as mentioned above. If you are the owner of one of those units, I ask that you reply to my message or send me one to get it adjusted before tomorrow morning.

Woah woah woah! You removed The B33f's tag? How is B33F against any naming convention!?! :D

Niko, you're listed on there twice, and both times your entries are red-out. You might want to post a community-wide email, or at least to the commander's who've been red-out, and ask them to review the posting, if you haven't already. I know I'm a pain the butt, but this might be necessary.

Are tag's red-out because another person/member has already registered them?

Niko, can the unit tag be changed later or should it be done now (if possible) before it goes live?

Thanks in advance

Entries 323 and 324 have the same tag. Looks like it's supposed to be 324s

Entries 344 and 345 have the same tag. Looks like it's supposed to be 345s

Entries 360 and 361 have the same tag. Looks like it's supposed to be 361s

copy errors but should be fixed none the less

I notice the Umayyad Horde is being permitted through despite being one of the fictional smaller periphery factions. Are Periphery factions immune to the current filter rules?

Cannot register 'Antares Scorpions', apparently it contains a filtered word. Despite it meeting your criteria for unit names.

Also could not register 'Alpha Scorpii', (just as a backup name) since it also contains a filtered word. But could register both 'Alpha' and 'Scorpii' as two separate units.

I know this may sound silly, and i does not affect me or my unit, but I do know some players that for years and years and even in other online games (not to be mentioned here) have used Canon Pilot or Canon Character Names.

Will those people (who are probably in the player base of MWO) have to rename their Character?

In other words, if my pilot name for this game was Justin Xiang-Allard, would it have to be changed?

In the mid to long term you may want to think about allowing 5 letter designations. you will find 4 to be a severe limitation, especially for unit who want to play as subunits of existing large units (clans are all 3 letters, etc)

This is great. Yeah, it may be close to the deadline, but so what? The fact is it's a smart move, the right move and it's happening BEFORE unit registration goes live officially.

Thanks for being on the ball with this Niko.

Hey Niko, line 360 in your document has an error. The 22nd Argyle Lancers shouldn't have the tag "256".

Otherwise: good move on the unique tags.
