You didn't "buy" it with XP. Modules are unlocked with GXP. You only unlock a module once.
Then you can go to mechlab and buy a module with C-bills and slot it into a mech; you may buy multiple of a module if you have more mechs that need it.

Yep - first you unlock, then you buy it. Pain, I know. Unless a module is chassis-specific I just swap them between builds. More of a hassle but cheaper.

Yes... Although from personal experience, I'd recommend against the module - it's a bit better than it used to be, but given the ranges of weapons and the range of the zoom, it's of very limited usefulness. The best use I've seen it put to was to zoom in for headshots at close range. =)

I'll tell you a secret - it works really good with lasers on maps like forest colony with a lot of trees and hard visibility at 600m+

I use it on every mech save my one or two dedicated LRM mechs as it enhances my ability to nail the exact spot I want at any reachable range routinely. Plus Im conditioned into a simple habit of regular view or AZ view. Faster transitions than using the shorter range zooms and once you used to it, using it even at shorter ranges it becomes a highly effective way to quickly engage not just a mech but a component and checking back out to maintain situational awareness.

To summarize the above, it's personal preference.
