Sorry if this was posted and answered elsewhere, but do we know the status of friendly fire yet? I like the idea that splash damage and accidental or careless hits from adjacent mechs are possible - especially in a rapidly moving scrum.

If friendly fire is implemented does it have negative consequences? (i.e.- reduce your income as you have to pay out part off your share to repair friendly mechs?)

I don't see why this wouldn't have FF, infact I'd probably be disappointed if it didn't. It'll teach people to... you know.. aim?

Watch out for those word of Lowtax blokes popping off one of your legs at the start then.

I hope there are consequences to where you shoot things. There should be thought and tactics to the game. I would hope my lance mates don't rain LRM death on me if I'm going toe to toe with an enemy mech.

It could cause a bit of griefing if we have FF, especialy if the games is a deathmatch.

Not to mention repairs...

FF is enabled and will burn your teammate to the ground. Its in the IGN videos. So you cant SRM into a furball and magically hit only the bad guys ( thank god).

You will likely have to pay for any damage done to a teammate (or atleast i hope)

So would being a bad shot and costing your team/lance the match because you did the classical spray and pray.

Supports that fire salvos of missiles into mixed groups of allies and enemies deserve to lose some income, that sort of behavior is just full on retarded.

This can easily be handled in a similar fashion to World of Tanks. There is FF, and any damage you do to friendlies (accidental or not) will cause you to lose some of your XP and money for the match. If you accidentally kill a near-dead teammate the punishment increases, and if you outright kill a friendly (intentional griefing) then your name changes color and your team can kill your freely without consequence.

Isn't this the same as a WoT arty shelling "the enemy" when you're face hugging the same enemy, and taking half your HP?

Yeah.. FF is a must.

I hope there is friendly fire. This game should be about tactics and not having friendly fire would remove a major part of that in my opinion.

Only problem I see, and see constantly with FF no matter the game, is teammates stepping into the line of fire and getting killed cause they did not check first or just plain ignored that their teammate is currently firing their weapon and as a result it would probably be a bad idea to step out in front of it.

Sure you can! If that furball has an atlas on the other side and a light on your side one of these things is bigger than the other!

The devs have already addressed this here, saying that it will be included.

In WoT it also compensates the person you shot with to try and offset the repair bill. I never see TKers in that game now.

Aren't you supposed to keep quiet if you're talking about what I think you're talking about?
