Hey was just looking on sarna and it is saying the marauder is reseen. Does that mean we can expect it to show in MWO?

Have we herd any recent dev talk about this mech?

The Reseen version is the boxy looking one. Which, looks more practical, to me.

It was mentioned in on of the Dev Vlogs that they are not going to try the Reseen from Macross. The Marauder is one of those.

I wish we could get the Marauder. But, it's not likely. However, it wouldn't be the first time, if they changed thier mind.

Id imagine they wouldnt step on any toes if they just made sure that they didnt sell it for Cbills or make a hero of it.. If they are not making money off of it then for all we know life is good.

No. It's Harmony Gold. If they even smell a Marauder being made for MWO, they'll throw lawsuits at PGI faster than you can melt down in your Awesome after firing 7 ERPPC in one go.

Any of the mechs which HG has artwork claims on are legal landmines and PGI knows this. They're not suicidal, and I doubt they think they're worth the risk of being sued to non-existence.

This was the Marauder Reseen by Flying Debris, but bare in mind that it couldn't go in anyways as Harmony Gold is just a bit too lawyer happy.



And this is a more likely "Marauder" reseen.

it's sad that we are missing so many iconic mechs because of a company that doesn't even make the series any more, they seem more like a real estate firm now....

They never made any series' to start with. Just imported a bunch during the early anime rush, and used the then-lousy initial showings to sucker the Japanese studios into signing redonculous licensing agreements. (Did you know Macross' original creators cannot release any of the new series' here because of HG?)

But I don't think you'd find Flying Debris (aka Alex) Shimmering Sword or myself crying about a well proportioned version of the reseen.



Personally I think it looks a heck of a lot better and more practical than the Unseen version, blasphemy though many find that to be. For one thins the reseen could actually, IDK....walk?

Bryan has stated that he is open to the idea of introducing the Marauder, but has concerns about the community's expectations.

So, it's a catch 22 for them; if they keep the design too similar to the original they face potential litigation...and if they change the design too much, many players will break out the pitchforks and torches.

So, the idea is just on the shelf for now....with no plans to implement it any time soon.

The marauder wont be good for anything except nostalgic reasons in MWO anyway. Most variants cant mount jump jets, and the ones that do only have one ballistic so they cant do 2x PPC 2x AC5. And then it becomes a 5 ton heavier CTF-3D.

Low slung weapon arms combined with a super easy to blind CT cockpit are terrible in MWO. The CTF-3D is good only because of poptarting and the 2x PPC/2X AC5 build.

Add on to the fact that you CAN win, easily, with non meta builds too *GASP!*

Branching out into AC10/LL builds (same opti same max makes for a good synergy), or even using LPL's and AC10/20's, or UAC's or...heavens ALL OF THE OTHER GUNS. Basically if you set out to exclude the meta guns (so don't use normal PPC or AC5's) you can have a lot of fun and have some very high damage games, using the most non meta guns. It just takes some SKILL and some PILOTING SKILL to understand that. Something that the Metawhores cannot comprehend because they have nothing between there ears.

I think it's funny how a mech's worth to you is only measured by the fleeting idea of what the meta build would be fore it. The meta is already shift man, you're gonna be left behind if 2 ppc 2 ac5 is all you can see in a mech.
