Because all the guys who like to TK for fun would start down-armoring their mechs and running in front of teammates who are engaged in combat.

I had a guy guass me in the back because he ran over a hill and got hammered then cried that we didn't help I pointed out his stupidity and he shot me more than once. I turned and removed both his arms. He whined a bit more and said to TK him.
I obliged. Never saw the baby again..

Kill the TK'er and/or report him. Its that simple

Bad behavior in the actual game is fairly rare.

Haven't seen an intentional TK'er in a long time. Though even back when wen did run into them more frequently, they didn't last long....

I'd have simply reported him rather than prove with actions that I was no better....

There really isn't, and when players do stupid things, if you actually report them properly, and provide evidence, support is quick to put them on the bad kids list.

TK is less of a problem than people who mess with premade lances using the command menu.

I think I know the guy you are talking about.. ..after a few rounds anyone we dropped with were smart enough to just kill them on the spot before they had a chance to TK players.. ..no doubt a lot of reports would have been submitted that day on said player given I posted up the e-mail for support and told all witnesses in multiple games to report the issue.

You want to temp ban people on a TK? That is a horrible idea. I was TKed yesterday with absolutely no malicious intent behind it. Sure the guy was being trigger happy and had his blinders on, but the dude hit me by mistake when aiming at an enemy mech. Why should this guy get no more than a stern "check your fire"?

If PGI did it your way I would have been banned a long time ago from accidental team killing. Some because the IFF tags could not show me if the teammate was behind or in front of my target. Some times its because a light mech came out of no were when I fired my weapon and it ran into the shell at range. Pretty much what happened in my above example. Some times its because a dumbass pug walked right in front of you when im firing my weapons.

The C-Bill penalty is enough. If you believe a person is being a problem take a screen shot and send it to MWO support with the time, name, map, and short explanation of what happened.

We do not need mass bannings when xImpalerx is running a free for all night on Tuesdays.

In any case, he would only die once in a game, preventing him from getting someone kick for the night.

Edit for Dirus
Read through people i said after the second tk.

Actually the Cbill penalty needs to be MUCH MUCH MUCH stiffer then it is now.

10k cbills for a TK....that is a slap in the face more then an punishment.

Needs to be more like 150k per or at the very least 100k. It makes mistakes a little painful still but one that makes you a more cautious shooter. Accidents do happen, and even if you do well in a game you will still make money even with a 100k oops. It, however, heavily punishes those that do it intentionally (if you TK and lose the game you WILL lose Cbills), as well as makes everyone a little bit better of a shooter, rather then the willy nilly shooting we have now.

Ppl who tk on purpose do so on an alt account with trial mech. they want to get banned. But more importantly they want to get people to quit the game, after a night of tkin youre bound to get someone who wont put up with that **** in a game that it takes 5 min to find a match and then 15m for the match to end.

Temp Ban people after a TK? How about no? The vast majority of TKs I've seen where accidental, usually involving a light mech that was circle-strafing a heavy or assault and got nailed by a friendly that was also gunning for his target, it happens, no fault. There was at least one time I got TK'd and I apologized to the guy that nailed me, because I was trying to push past him and get stuck on his arm, that's not easy to see from a Cataphract cockpit, totally my fault.

Lucky you. I ran into one each in a pair of games, one on each side. The one on my end TK'ed me because "camping".

Note that I was (a) running a LRM boat, and (B ) shot by his Atlas from behind. Which meant I was in front of him -- "camping".

The other case was someone who has a mad grief against PGI and had a user name that basically said "don't give money to PGI". And then proceeded to take it out on his teammates. Which is rather stupid.

Just report the buggers. I strongly support strong actions on PGI's part against intentional TKers. I understand the need to prove intentional TKs, and sometimes borderline cases would get dropped. If some kid is goofing around TKing.. tough.

You have a point. So I went back to re-read.

One case is as follows: Last night I was in an Alpine Match. We won 12-3. The enemy accounted for 1 kill. I accidentally got one TK (LRM shower went wrong), and probably another teammate did too. Under your scheme, I'd have to sit out for 20 mins potentially due to "missile in the air" and someone stepping into the wrong box at the wrong time.

And I'm not even sure how self-kills would count. You know, accidental out-of-bounds, heat-related deaths. Those technically should be team-kills too, even if self-inflicted.

I am sorry but this is absolutely absurd. To wipe out any chance of earning C-bills because of a simple mistake on a players part is ridiculous. You want a 100-150K penalty because some one not paying attention runs into a teammates arty strike, runs into their laser beams, runs of and face hugs a mech who is under fire from teammates? You want a out right punishment because my AC/PPC fires off at a 90* angle because my cross hairs were straddling a mech or building's hit box, which resulted in a TK? yes that happens. Or how about hit detection says my shot missed and lets my AC round pass right through a mech hitting a friendly on the other side?

If you had such a high penalty you would have people deliberately trolling others by running into strikes and face hugging targets. 10k is not a small amount in game. a 10% give or take to the average players match rewards is a bit much.

Then again why stop there? Lets give out 100k penalties when ever some one suicides. You died because your light mech got his leg ripped off by screwed up fall damage running over ripples in the ground? To ******* bad. Died because you over heated trying to kill an enemy capping a point? Sucks to be you. Get stuck out of bounds, or killed because the mini map did not clearly indicate were the boundary is? L2P noob.

10K is enough. the vast majority of TKs are simple mistakes. The penalties should be a slap on the wrist. Problem players should be reported, let moderators handing punishment.
