Though unnecessary, some of the re-imagined stuff isn't too bad, like the FWL logo.

However, the Clan logos look too silly. they look less like the crest of a faction, and more like the logo for some mid-league sports teams.

MWO is already too far down the e-sports road. It doesn't need more of that.

Got to go for the Classic. The new were decent, but the old school logos just stir the heart.

Some people said about the new logos but that was clearly silly the vast majority of children don't draw that well, however I'm betting thats an f-ton more children who could of come designed and then easily drew those old logos. I mean the old touched up Jade Falcon looks like it was done by my cousin's 12 year old.

Shouldn't this poll be broken into 4 different sets rather than one entire branch over the other entire branch?

I like the older-style Ghost bear logo, the newer Jade Falcon logo, and can go either way on the other two.

Why not just use the older style ones as default and still sell/offer the newer style logos and cockpit items? Or maybe have them as Clan pack purchaser bonuses?

Never heard of BattleTech before MWO but the classic ones are way better. New ones are too complicated for logos, keep it simple.

I like the newer Ghostbear, Newer Jade falcon but like the old smoke and wolf .

Edit: I take that back the old smoke looks like trash. Maybe it's just the "Revamp" that killed it, I don't remember it being that bad.

Ok, since we're having a big debate about artwork, I guess I'll leave my 2 cents. The problem with the "traditional" is that smoke jaguar's gray and ghost bear's gray are too similar when you shrink them down. 99% of our exposure to this artwork will be those little tiny icons by player's name in-game. Here is about how they will look



The gray and blue are kind of similar for the top two at first glance. Obviously if you look at it closer you can spot differences, but I feel like there should be distinct coloring. I like the black coloring of the jaguar with yellow claws/teeth.

I wrote in this topic earlier but I realised that this is too important to just write a few short lines about... I mean, we are voting over what logos we will sport in battle against the Inner Sphere!

Let us take a look at them step by step shall we?

The Bear

The first they came out with did not even look like a bear.. More like a walrus. I have to admit I like what they have done now though. This one is by far the most similar of the proposed classic redesigns.

Notable changes from the original:

- Colour of the bear. (The bear is no longer light Cyan)
- Facial expression.
- Shape of the ears.
- Thickness of the arms.
- Yellow ring removed.
- Some loss of depth and detail.

I am not of Clan Ghost Bear, but I would say that this one is the most complete one of the four. By far.

The Falcon

The Jade Falcon one has changed for the better. True, the redesign was kind of interesting but the new proposed one does honor upon the original.

Notable changes from the original:

- Shape of the wings.
- Shape of the talons.
- One more claw added to each.
- Position of Falcon on the badge.
- Shape of the badge.
- Minor colour changes (The Falcon has gotten a more Jade colour).
- Less depth and detail.

Instead of a crowbar, it actually looks like a sword now, which is good. Still, there is something missing... This one still requires some work.

The Wolf

With all due respect PGI, the first redesign of the Clan Wolf logo you presented is a true disgrace. It is a butchering of the heiritage of Kerensky and the Wolf itself. You have managed to save some face with this one however. A good improvement, much better than the "Sneezing Wolf" or "Rabit Dog" we currently have.

Notable changes from the original:

- The box behind the head is 66% shorter than the original. This makes the logo look very unbalansed!
- Suggest you make the box at least 80% longer to compensate.
- The position of the box has been moved to the right.
- The head appears to have been stretched and/or enlarged.
- Colours have changed. The head looks similar to the original, while the box itself has had a radical change.
- Suggest a colour more similar to the head colour, or go for a more orange brown which is on the original.
- Less depth and detail.

As already mentioned, MUCH better than the Wolf getting probed... But you still got some work to do on this one.

The Jaguar

The Jaguars also came out on the loosing side with the redesign of the logoes. Now however, it looks much more true to the original indeed.

Notable changes from the original:

- Jaguar has been moved a bit to the left and down on the badge
- Shape of the ears.
- The Jaguar has round ears, not pointy ones.
- Colours have changed, but not as radically as the other badges. This one stays almost completely true except for the claws.
- The claws have changed.

This one has come out much better than the first redesign but it does not look complete.

Let us recap:

Ghost Bear: Most complete out of all four, I would say about 80-90%. Much better than the walrus one.
Jade Falcon: Something is missing on this logo but I cannot put my finger on it. It does bring honor to the original.
Wolf: Much better than the... Well, I am not even going to mention it. Still missing a bit of work.
Smoke Jaguar: Nice to see they have moved away from sparkly cat to this. This one needs quite some work still though. Compared to the other proposed ones, this one is lacking.

I got one thing to say to your graphics department, as I am one as well... Design does not have to be complicated to be good. Make it simple and you will succeed nine out of ten times. You know what the public wants so try not to stray too far away from it. With these proposed originals, you have gotten closer but there are still quite a few things that need to be fixed on them.

If you like, I can send in a proposal myself for the redesign of the badges. Seeing what you have made so far, I think I can make something your art director can enjoy.

Helmstif said it in #128 and I know your art director has heard of the KISS-principle. Every designer has.

Changing the background colors from grey to something that contrasts more with the design would help them 'pop' in the thumbnail. I also really like the new Jade Falcon art over the slightly reworked one. It's too bad we couldn't pick and choose between the pairings. I think Jade Falcon's complete redesign is sexy. The black panther/smoke jaguar one doesn't look at all related to the original,though. Maybe if you put a black background on the banner like this one:



The lighter jaguar with dark claws looks darned cool too.

I think the Wolves Emblem is very menacing, not classic though. The Ghost Bears head needs tilting down.

tryed to make that classic fat chicken-parrot more falconisch, for that consultated some pictures of real falcons and saw that the feathers and proportions are right but the snable of a real falcon is much smaller, and some kinds of falcons got that feathershadow around thier eyes ... what do you think?
