I see Warhorns are going down as well as their implementation of 3/3/3/3. GJ PGI!

Wow, 14 pages of spam about warhorns. Who cares? Though I really do hope they're client-side only, there are bigger fish to fry.

Like a few others, my concern is with Radar Deprivation. There's no role-based module slots, so now any 'mech that wants it can spend a module slot to be able to thumb their nose at LRM 'mechs. Oh, sure, sure, if you have a spotter, the point is moot - but how can you depend on having a spotter in a match? Don't anyone even try saying, "get a team." Particularly once the planned drop restrictions are successfully implemented and you can only have one premade per match, it's not good weapon balance to require a teammate of a certain type acting in a certain way to be effective. LRMs need to be balanced by themselves - the advantages of indirect fire should be offset by the disadvantages of that mode (e.g. needing a spotter and greater missile spread.) It is also important to note that Radar Deprivation will still work against the spotter. It will be more difficult to hide from both a good spotter and the firing 'Mech, but not too much more - you can nearly always drive the spotter into cover, after all.

So Radar deprivation will affect indirect fire, but to a lesser degree than direct-fire mode. But man, will it affect direct fire! An agile opponent can already use tall cover to avoid LRMs with impunity; the firing 'Mech is reduced to shooting at the sides of the cover in the hope that he pops out while the missiles are falling - and if he has jump jets and no slope behind him, you're screwed! Add Radar Deprivation and you've got an instant break for lockons - exactly what hillcrest snipers have been pining for (or should have been.) Now every intermittent contact that pops over the hill to snipe is going to be utterly safe from LRMs, if he bought one module - and we're back to where we were when LRMs were buffed out of uselessness to begin with, only three months ago. And to add insult to injury, the proposed module hard-counters Advanced Target Decay - a module generally held to be required in order to function as an LRM boat.

To sum it all up, we're looking at a module with the potential to cripple a certain kind of build and override a module whose function is exactly opposite Radar Deprivation's own purpose. Non-ECM scouts really needed something like this, but the module is too powerful in its current form to be balanced when allowed on any chassis type.

I'm speechless, I really am. Who at PGI thought that this would be a good idea? I can only sit in front of my PC and wonder if this is really true or I'm just having a weird dream.

And to make it worse, the sounds are so generic that... don't know what to say, I'm really speechless. I mean, could they have not used at least something that might represent the clans? A wolf's howl, a falcon's cry, ... anything better that this. Is this MechWarrior or Patapon?

Really hope there will be a mute button for this.

I would like to request a MUTE button for the warhorns in the Audio Settings, please! I want to hear pew-pew, dakka-dakka, and wub-wub noises, not those godawful warhorns.

This. Those warhorns sound awful. Each time more info about clan package contents were released I was that much more glad the price stayed unreasonably high. Otherwise I might have bought one and been pissed.

If the brains at PGI had their way, this is what a Mech Match would sound like:

This should be good till the novelty dies off and the players that returned for clans see that the balance just got worse I can see from the modules alone the balance is going to be worse then ever, This was a silly move PGI your f2ps for the vast part will instantly be gone or extremely inactive with this release. Your returning players once the novelty dies off and your returning players see this release for what it truly is they will be gone , Which will leave you with only the die hard "leets" left, tell me what % of your player base do they represent again?.... Yeah....

This guy gets it.

Honestly though, Deathlike said it best. First Mandatory Module since the original Seismic. It will affect a lot more than just lrms and streaks. Weaving buildings on Frozen/Crimson/River will completely change with this module installed.

My first thought was to drop it on my SRM mediums, since that fix is coming soon, allegedly.

Now though, it seems I might just grab an ecm light and install this module, you know, to make a point. ;)

Mastered RVN has 4 slots, but dose leg hitboxes! Suggestions?

Well, you can just go with an ER Laserchicken ECM sniper Raven and never expose your legs to the enemy. That's really the going thing these days.

...shouting at me about it is not going to make you any headway, because you're arguing against a viewpoint I don't hold....

If you're in a game where it literally doesn't take any effort to keep your missiles on lock while not getting shot, you're in a game where the enemy hasn't tried to press your missile-launching 'mech and likely doesn't deserve better than getting rained to death by someone they haven't got the wits to locate

I Mastered 3 Kintaros using this exact same strategy. That's a LOT of matches in which this strategy worked. And, as per the screenshots I posted, I didn't even win most of those matches. I did quite reasonable scores before I was killed or the team was defeated.

Again, it points to LRMing with remote locks being relatively easy and effective. Not ''will win you the next tournament'' level easy and effective. But certainly easy and effective in a PUG environment.

By the way, I wasn't "shouting" at you or anyone. When I want to shout I WILL DO IT LIKE THIS YOU NUMBSKULL!

;)

I liked the initial idea of the Warhorns, but after listening to all of them twice, I honestly can't pick one..... to put on my mech.

These Warhorns I would LOVE to have on a mech.

1. Betty: Enemy mech destroyed.
2. Soccer: GOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAALLLLLL!
2.5. Hell, an airhorn.
3. "Another one bites the dust" or the instrumental
4. A Gunshot, or multiple, Bang Bang! For example. Like the "2 guns in the air"
5. "Nice!"
6. The Guitar theme from Megas XLR, last 5 seconds
7. "Heavy Metal Highway!"
8. The "surat", eh, perhaps clan specific animal noises. Roaring from the Smoke Jags, Bear bellow Ghost Bears, Screech of Falcon for Jade Falcons, and and growl of the Wolf from well....the Wolf Clan.

Heh. I hear Betty saying that in my head every time I blow up a mech anyway. Hell I sometimes have to fight from sayign it myself on teamspeak.

4. I know a certain Marik Unit that would love that one :)

Short, non-rules-y answer: LAMS was never a common system in the Clans at the time.

Longer answer: LAMS equated to "Level 3" tech in Classic BattleTech game rules. None of the other equipment available in MWO was Level 3. It existed, yes, but it wasn't in production, so didn't really show up on the battlefield. Here's a decent clarification on what's what, including links to which equipment is considered levels 1 and 2: http://www.sarna.net...Rules_Level/THB

Look someone who made a logical point and isn't a **** and has a more valid point than, "Derp Phelan Kell didn't have one in his mech that isn't even in game, so we shouldn't have one"

anyway, blackcat, yes i get that it wasn't a mainline production thing, but it seems silly to have a module that increases the firing rate of AMS by 10%. Maybe they'll add it in later as an XP unlock or on certain variants that definitely had LAMS.

TROLOLO!
I love my version of the lore and thus no other possibilities could EVER exist!
TROLOLO!

Show me where I said at any point that we "should not have one"

I did however- if you had bothered reading it - point out that they would be justified in not giving us one.

Having said that - I am pretty darn sure what your next response is, and am now saving myself the trouble of needing to read it.

Have a nice day - but I can almost guarantee you it is far more pleasant after you have pulled your head out of your arse.

Edit: spelling

you seem to get butt-hurt that someone disagrees with you, but continue it amuses me

-edit for more points against your irrelevant one-

Oh further more, while I know LAMs wasn't mounted on every single clan mech, and that it may have been scarce in certain deployments in lore. I'm pretty sure the butchered/stitched-together timeline, and the wild amount of battlemech customization for innersphere mechs would warrant just tossing the piece of equipment in. Since well we're having a Clan invasion in 3049*, which didn't happen, and we can swap nearly every piece of a mech out for other components at will, which also didn't happen. Although the latter point about customization you could say with outleast some customization options it wouldn't feel like a Mechwarrior game.

LOL Clan specific animal sounds would be awesome!
