One positive effect of the target deprivation module I can forsee: The value of good scouts who can both stay concealed and keep line of sight on a target will skyrocket.

This seems like a missed opportunity.

1) Reveal took too long.
2) Missed low-hanging fruit of warhorns that could have been both visually thematic with what players probably expected (clan animals, or actual "warhorn" sounds).
3) The comedy/oddball stuff, like "Lunch truck" should have been a follow up in the store post clan pack. Not what you give to customers who shell out $$ on small to massive pre-orders.

This is the most ridiculous thing PGI ever came up with...
If these "Warhorns" get implemented, we will need a mute function for this ONLY!
Muting the game can't be a solution for these annoying toys.

Seriously ? Warhorns will broadcast those annoying sounds to everyone in hearing range ? It wasn't so bad when it was restricted to one fairly expensive Hero mech. Brace yourselves for warhorn spam

...

I'm trying to find something constructive to say here...

Here goes, if I choose to mount those things in my cockpit, I would be the only one to have to deal with them.

Don't want to hear the warhorn? DON'T DIE.

These... I am disapoint. I can't believe they didn't put any quality control into the warhorns, to at least bring them into line with the Clans. You realize the Clans were like super serious right, and not real big on frivolity?

I just picture the PGI office right now, reading the comments about making Clan specific warhorns (bear roar, wolf howl, etc.) and the devs looking at each other and saying, "holy crap, why didn't we think of that? Well we can't change em now, we'll look stupid..."

But trust me, you won't. Just put up a poll like the clan logos. And next time, maybe you should remember this fiasco, and ask people beforehand.

But by bringing them into line with the Clans and frivolity they essentially ignore their biggest revenue stream.

My 2 cents: I'm in the crowd that wants both a hotkey for toggling my own warhorn on/off and another hotkey for toggling my hearing other players' warhorns on/off. The latter could be actually split into two separate hotkeys for both teams. (So I could, for example, choose to hear only the warhorns of friendly players but not those of enemy players.)

Also, the tactical dimension of the warhorns comes into play if, along with a multi-speaker-setup, it will become possible to locate players on the battlefield based on their warhorn emanations (by carefully listening the loudness and the direction where the sound is coming from). Unless, that is, warhorns do not actually emit sound into the environment outside the mech, but instead use the internal in-cockpit comm-systems of mechs (or something).

I can be snippy too.

Thank you for actually taking time to consider what I have said.

But then - you obviously know everything and are absolutely perfect in everything so I will leave you with your obviously superiority.
/sarcasm off

You can also take (literally) any point in the lore and invalidate it with another.

Edit:

Fact: you have a point to support the inclusion of LAMS
Fact: I have a point to support it not being in the game

Fact: we have the option of discussing this like adults or we can continue down the path you have started.

My post was not meant to be snippy - but lets face it!
Obviously the best way to prove your maturity is to display a complete and utter lack of it - so now I will be following your obviously more mature approach.

I think you missed the point, I'm not talking about LAMS for Innersphere mechs, since Innersphere wasn't producing it until about 3054-59.

Its a clan component, why do the clan mechs not have LAMS when its available during this timeline to them? I'll pass on the rather pathetic module in favor of a heat generating ammunition free laser anti-missile system.
Short, non-rules-y answer: LAMS was never a common system in the Clans at the time.

Longer answer: LAMS equated to "Level 3" tech in Classic BattleTech game rules. None of the other equipment available in MWO was Level 3. It existed, yes, but it wasn't in production, so didn't really show up on the battlefield. Here's a decent clarification on what's what, including links to which equipment is considered levels 1 and 2: http://www.sarna.net...Rules_Level/THB

there are already a lot of players who essentially refuse to use LRMs at all because they find indirect firing LRMs unreasonably difficult to get results out of.

Remote firing LRMs is stupidly easy to get results out of.

I levelled three Kintaros using mostly remote-locks... no Artemis, no TAG, no BAP. The screenshot below shows three consecutive matches which were fairly typical.

You're firing on targets you don't even need to see, that are up to about 900m away, using the locks of other players, and your missiles find their own way to the target. How much easier can it get...? Do you want the missiles to fire themselves as well?!

A Warhorn is a mounted cockpit item that has a physical representation in your cockpit. When you destroy another Mech on the battlefield, the Warhorn will sound to all nearby players. The Heavy Metal Hero Mech has a built-in Warhorn that is overridden with the sound of a mounted Warhorn. Pre Order your Clan Collection now to ensure you get all of the Modules and Warhorns! http://mwomercs.com/clans Go to our SoundCloud playlist to hear all of the individual Warhorns! https://soundcloud.c...r-warhorn-sound

Boo for warhorns. Not at all enticed by the prospect of stupid sounds going off every time a mech goes down on the battlefield. Every once in a while with the Highlander is one thing. There aren't that many of them on the battlefield. every Tom, D**K, and Harry who bought a clan pack having a warhorn just makes me want to find which volume control affects the warhorns and put it on 0.

Edit: Had to edit my original post because PGI doesn't like the shorthand name for Richard.

TBH the childish "gotta be hip and trendy instead of standing for something of substance" approach to the warhoirns has me to this day very seriously considering a refund..... There hundreds if not thousands of things that would have made sense, and some of them (totem animal horns) probably would have been a huge step forward inb getting some of the naysayers to at least consider the possibility PGI is not entirely evil.

But the current "Russ`Baby has got this, give him 2 minutes in Protools" collection of Skrillex´ trashbinned beats and annoying bleeps and bloops that sounded better as the original sample files actually only just convinces me that I`m too old to be playing video games, especially this one.

If PGI wants to be sure they can keep my money, the best thing they can do is let all references to them "disappear" entirely. And if I can not actively turn them off, I will not play again until such a time as I can. That being said, I hope very much that we wil NOT unlock social reward number 4, to the point that thaty becomes a valid reason for me to get a refund, because every ****** in the game will have Dubabee BS playing on every kill.

I have enough random, annoying noises around me all day at work, the last thing I need or want is for my evenings to be filled with a PC game that sounds like a 4 year old got his hands on one of those old battery powereed multi--sound boxes.... though that 80s vibe would at least have teh positive benefit of channeling childhood memories, something that annoying noises based on modern music`s most annoying noises most certainly do not do.

And before people get on my ass about dreckstep being so awesome: That is your opinion, and it is one that I as a musician of over 30 years with a repertoire ranging from classical sonatas through metal anthems to Prodigy covers and 2 world tours under my belt do not share in the slightest. Deal with it.

I'm pretty happy with how the Clan stuff is turning out, but I gotta say those Warhorn sounds are just god awful. Absolutely terrible. I will certainly not equip any of those on my mechs. The Heavy Metal's "Warhorn" is like 1000x cooler than this crap.

Someone had posted these in another thread before I realized they had been released and I thought it was a joke.

They had a swift response to the Clan Logos outrage, does anyone think they'll take back their Looney Tunes warhorns?

Nope they will change again the clan logos.

It's also stupid easy to hide under ecm or get cover. you probably met people who weren't doing this.

Well I think the only time, I'll be in MWO, until I get a mute button, for those stupid horns, is when daughter wants to team up.

Nicely thought out PGI, one paying customer you lost .
