The clan lights will have the speed and weaponry of a fast medium but the armor of a light. They are a bit smaller, but not small enough at that speed.

The community are going to solve the clan light problem by not using them.

You'll see me in the Kit Fox / Uller.

To bad it's a medium like the Ice Ferret and Viper suggested by the OP.. Guys need to learn your tonnages.. 35 tons is cut off for lights

And it also says on the Sarna "Class : Medium" ;)

Of course, there would be a LOT less people playing the Kit Fox and Adder, but they are crappy designs anyway- big deal. The Fenris is my choice for the next mech. I can imagine the Dragonfly with its JJs being a little OP to start with for a fast Clan mech, so we should get the Fenris.

I know you didn't just insult my Adder.

It's basically a clan Cicada then. While this is about light mechs, the Cicada might as well be with how people use it.

The problem is some of us want to play clan light mechs that act as fast strikers/scouts like IS mechs. I personally do not enjoy playing light mechs as fire support, which is the role the first two clan mechs will be relegated to.

Being completely honest, neither do I. I have a Guass Raven 4X for messing around, but other than that all mine run max or very near engines.

But we will see fast clan lights with any luck, so I guess we just have to make do. The Stormcrow will fulfill the fast striker role well enough, and I still feel the clan lights will have a place.
After all, it's not like Lights do much scouting now as it is. The most I do is crest a ridge and call out enemy movements, which I do in my Hunchback as well.

You can have a kit fox with:
2xLRM15s /w 4 tons of ammo
2xERMLs
2xMGs /w 2 tons of ammo

That amount of firepower is on par with the stock Catapult C1, a heavy mech. Keep in mind the C1 only carried 1 ton of LRM ammo, so this particular build can provide indirect fire support for a lot longer. This is one build I plan on using, and with situational awareness my speed won't be much of an issue. Once the minimum range for clan LRMs is resolved, any lights that get close are probably going to regret it.

The HANKYU was only first spotted at the Battle of Luthien. There is no need for a replacement of the Uller and Adder, there is a need for a fast scout mech. The only initial invasion mechs in the Tech Readout 3050 that fit that bill are the Fenris and Dragonfly. The Dasher too, but that is going to have to come when they figure out how to make a mech go over 200kph. If the Clans don't get the Fenris or Dragonfly, they will be too slow, and slow is weak. The Clans are not weak.

Its has already been said a few times but u don't want see it, the Fenris and Dragonfly are both Medium mechs, so the problem of Clan lights will not been solved at all by adding these mechs and if u mean that u can have Clan meds to counter IS lights that is even worse because now ur throwing extra tonnage at it to fix it, u said earlier that comp teams will not field Clan lights as they are too slow and easy prey, well i can tell u now they won't field Clan meds to fill the lights roll as comp games are set (mostly) by weight and using Meds is just a waste of tonnage, comp teams will just continue using IS lights for scouting and harassing and Clan mechs for the rolls where they are better suited.

http://www.sarna.net...et_%28Fenris%29

http://www.sarna.net...%28Dragonfly%29

These mechs do not solve the problem of slow Clan lights...

Edit.
And also if u are talking about using Mediums to fill the roll of lights, that would mean their counters would be IS lights, right? how unlike Clan like to ton up and use more resources than required, that the IS way of dealing with problems.

If I were a wannabe-Nova Cat stoner-sage, I'd post something like this:

"After meditating with the sacred incense and repetition of key lines of the Remembrance, a vision came upon me: PGI will release a Clan Second Wave pack, and it will include the Myst Linx [or Koshi for civilized IS pilots], the Ice Ferret [Fenris], the Mad Dog [Vulture], and the Gargoyle [Man 'O War]."

Since I'm a true son of the Federated Suns, however, I'll just leave it at this: I'm guessing we'll be seeing the Koshi and the Fenris in the Clan Reinforcement Pack or whatever it winds up being called. Both are quite fast.

The 6 med laser Jenner F most certainly can match the firepower of a Firestarter. The main problem with the Jenner is its crappy hitboxes and no shield arm.

nope. the jenner can never match its firepower. because the firestarter can have 6 energy and 2 ballistic. or 4 energy and 4 ballistic if its a pay2win ember.

Only the Ember is pay to win (maybe), the 6 energy 2 ballistic is C-bills, i don't really believe in pay to win yet in this game and the Ember is maybe the worst mech to rally to calling p2w as it can be 1 shot by alot of heavy mechs.

If its played wrong sure it can be one shotted. If played properly it decides games. Like it did in the tournament.

If played right it can still be 1 shotted, a 3D in a game with nothing else to shoot at but an Ember for 5 secs could be game over for game deciding mech. and using the tourny finals as ur counter only applies to top teams with great teamwork, timing and focus firing. to everyone else its a mech like alot of others, the reason they are finishes is those 4 crit machine guns, i don't hear anyone calling the Huginn p2w even tho it too has 4 machine guns. the Ember is nothing but effective light mech made better by a bit of bad coding, not by design.

More like 2 shotted if its played right. 1 shotting an Ember requires getting a backshot, which means it was played wrong.

because huginns not p2w.
1) huginn has horrible raven hitboxes (the legs are laughably easy to hit).
2) huginn doesnt have 4 energy and 4 ballistic
3) huginn doesnt have as many jumpjets

ember is very much p2w because its outright better than every other light.

You need to tell HoL light pilots they are playing wrong then because in that fur ball in the city those Embers showed their backs a few times, its impossible to play a mech that needs to be in a 100 meters amongst up to 12 enemies and not show ur back. and some times lucky shots are just lucky.

Plus i like how ur proof of the Ember being a p2w mech all depends on player skill...

While it might not be Pay2Win, it's certainly one of the best lights out there because even when it has a mix of high heat high damage weaponry, and low heat moderate damage weaponry that complement each other very well.

They can keep doing damage when others hit the heat wall. Better than any of the other CBill light mechs out there.

As i said it all comes down to the coding at the end of the day and the Raven had its coding changed over a year ago, otherwise it would still be crazy hard to hit, even more so than the Firestarters. And no it doesn't have 4 energy, but after the best patch it might have something far better SRM's. And Comp build Embers only use 2 JJ's which the Huginn can mount too (most Comp Jenners only have 1 JJ) anything more is just wasting tonnage.

And when the day comes that they take a second look at the hit boxes on the Firestarters this p2w tag will soon fall off. after june the 17th patch i think the Jenner D will be the top light and Firestarters will die to the SRM's rather quickly.
