or at least real good. 2 er ppc gauss timerwolf, while hot, packs a heavy punch at range, and the heat is made up for by the speed and durability of the clan xl and clan ferro. also the fact that this build removes the large missile pods that stick up high is a bonus.

Gauss + 2PPC isn't exactly a novel idea. Does the better shot sync (CERPPC 1500 m/s), 10 additional arc damage, and no minimum range make up for the 50% increase in heat output and the lack of build flexibility?

And more importantly, will pinpoint fld meta continue to dominate the field, with these fine brawling clan mechs and the SRM hitreg fix? The few Dragon Slayers that showed up to the PTS didn't seem to be all that effective imo. Time will tell.

The Dragon Slayers, other Victors and Cataphracts are just as effective as they were. It's just that when everyone is zerging around not caring about stats or kills just trying weapons out they aren't as prominent.

It remains to be see if Clan mech will be equally good. They are certainly equal or more then equal on fun and bring some deadly firepower, but will will have to see how the perform when trading shots with the best mechs in the game in greater numbers.

The things we can say right now for certain:
- Clans lack the current metagame favorite alpha + DPS combo of 5 calibre autocannons and PPCs
- Clan autocannons do not trade shots favorably in brawls and at range with IS autocannons due to the burst vs single shot
- CSSRM 6s are VERY deadly to light mechs
- The huge speed of Clan mediums and the lighter weapons will make for some interesting medium loadouts.
- Most Clan loadouts tend to put out more DPS then the average IS loadout
- Clan Mechs have good survivability all round with solid hitbox designs and Clan XL engines
- Some Clan mechs have a surprising weakness: they do not have the ability to mount ammo in the head or legs and no ability to mount C.A.S.E.
- Putting machineguns and lot of UAC2s in a Dire Wolf is NOT a good build
- The Clan lasers seem superior or at least just as good

What do all these facts add up to ? I don't know. We will find out once the patch goes live and people test the Clans to their limits over the following month. For the record I don't think they will be OP, but I think that some of them at least will change how the game plays, at least in PUG games, but possibly even 12vs12. They certainly do have a different playstyle and feel - I think PGI did a great job there. And they were, for me at least, worth the monies. :)

A lot harder to pop tart when you get bombarded by ultra acs the moment you pop up. Expect crying about ballistic screen shake to start shortly.

Clan mechs have free case on each part w/o needing them to equip

The Clan mechs all have case on every component by default and they are weightless.

Holy hit reg. So thats what a stable 40 ping looks like. You even correct your aim frantically at the last millsecond and the shots still registers spot on. :)

That build will be even more viable when you max out the mech skills. It will probably become the new Cat 3d so I guess we haven't solved jump sniping at all, and yes that will likely be the new meta.

this look really hot (he overheated a lot of times) in a more balanced match he couldn't have played like this.

I'm much more interested in brawling clan mechs videos, are there any ? :)

I watched Errodiens NGNG-stream earlier and he tried the 5 CSSRM6 Stormcrow,it looked kinda fun :)
Hit registration seemed to be an issue when alphastriking tho.

ALL clan ammunition automatically has C.A.S.E. preinstalled for 0 weight and 0 crits.. there is no need to miunt it as an extra item.:D

The Timberwolf S right now is the premiere Clan meta-style design. It's got the conjunction of enough weight to put on a good trio of guns, speed to get them there, and the jump jets to bounce around cover like the best designs need.

That it can also opt for an SRM brawl mode instead of the Gauss means you've got a decent poptart that can deliver up close- I was watching one just chew legs off like a rabid pit bull when the pilot realized you kill most Clanners like a Centurion- sweep the legs. SRMs are quite good at that...
