Disagree on the AC's Sure they are a terror against slow assaults, but against anything with even decent speed and torso twist (spent a tons of GXP leveling the nova and Stormcrow this afternoon), the damage gets spread like CRAZY.

In almost every single match I played on the PTR my damage was spread out 2-3x as much as in an IS mech.


As for the lasers, I do understand some peoples concern, but I would like more time to test it to see if it needs more heat or not. I am not convinced, I ran REALLY hot in both the Nova and Stormcrow when running laser boats.

The cLRM's will be a real issue at lower Elo's LRM60+TAG on my stormcrow with plenty of armor.and 107kph (with speed tweak).

On the other hand a single raven on the enemy team with ECM turned the tide in one drop as they could get LRM's onto us, but we could not reliably return fire.

My thoughts

Kit-fox is amazing
Adder is pretty good
NOVA is XXXXXXXX HUGE...it's the same size as the madcat and the madcat is a little small. Despite that it is probably my favorite of the mediums.
Stormcrow is decent and speedy
Summoner...is ok. not much to say here
Madcat.....is trash. Despite it being the smallest heavy in the world it has slow slung weapons and that pretty wide torso with a big ct. Easy as Pie to get. Outside of like the prime build I would avoid this thing....just die horribly if you take one.

No, we can't

Because we don't have enough data. A few hours each just is not enough to go on.

I am not saying you are wrong, just that (aside from LRM's) I think the jury is still out.

Some of the Mechs have no AMS option as a hindrance. Ghost heat has an effect on Large Pulse Lasers with a cap of two. Streaks fire as groups, but with a long reload time to balance them out. The Ultra ACs are double tap weapons. You cannot just hold down the trigger, from what I've found, like you can with the Inner Sphere Ultra AC/5. Chain fire might alter that, though. Over all I was very impressed with some of the steps they took to balance the Clan weapons.

If this is the direction the game is going I will not be here much longer. This is mechwarrior, I did not come here to play CoD/whatever in robots. I came here to play mechwarrior.

I am concerned the ability to barf out 80 dmg in some of these big mechs is going to lead to people being insta-ganked for the slightest positioning error. Sounds a lot like boom headshot to me.

Sounds like you just have bad aim. Because I was murdering kitfoxes, novas, stormcrows, etc... with my quad UAC10 Daishi. It does so much dps that it just shreds those mechs in seconds whether they torso twist or not.

I meant my overall tactics and approach. in PS2, I would move, poke out, move around alot, take shots of opportunity. Did that all the way to 5.56KD. 13K kills with somewhere around 2.5K deaths lol.

Unlike how I was playing MWo.....go off alone, walk into a mech, and try to hero shoot my way out...only to meet another mech...and another mech....

Ofc, this game, it doesnt matter what happens when the entire enemy team walks around a corner....fire till I drop I guess....all the way to 331 dmg before being smoked by no less thne 2 Summoners, an Uller a Stormcrow and...Nova? lol. I woulda gotten like 200 more dmg, but invisible walls on everything in this game makes firing around corners and close to cover very annoying.

Ullers dont take ERPPC to the rear very well either =D nothing like a little mech shutting down, ass facing me, 2 inches from my guns hahaha,

Every mech I have used has been very good.

None have bad hitboxes.
None have insanely good hitboxes like the Victor or Shadowhawk.
They can improve their armor.
Clan Lights work very well, if you don't try to scout. Support the Fatties.
The Summoner and Nova and NOT DOA. At all. Very very viable and vicious.
Dire Wolf is the clan Stalker. If it's in front of you, it dies. If it gets beside/behind you, you die.
They are apparently well balanced.
UACs and MGs sound absolutely amazing.
Burst fire is manageable, but the IS gots the advantage on FLD.
Clan Lasers have real long durations.
Clan Lasers also have AWESOME range.

That said, despite ripping them earlier for yet another fail at the beginning, I am now the owner of a Masakari Package.

Well besides the poinltess Clan AC's

Not to be confused with the UAC or LBX but the actual CLAN AC's.

They are pointless.

They burst fire just like the UAC's, weight the same. I figured that the Clan AC's would fire off a single slug because they were unable to load different ammo types into the LBX.....nope.

Yeah saw ya running one earlier. Been loving my Clan K2. Might try a 3rd UAC and have a cross between an Ilya and a 3D.

I agree on the clan ACs. I bought 2 AC10s and now know that once the Clan mechs launch, I will NOT be buying them because the UACs are better in every way.

Same goes for Medium Pulse. Completely pointless.

I didn't get to personally run either weapon but being on the receiving end of clans for 75 percent of my time on the PTS basically confirms this. Clan tech is not wildly out of balance on the whole. I'll take your word on the UACs but after getting my groove back, I wasn't too concerned going up against clan tech. I did get to play the Timberwolf and Summoner. The former is a great design all around and the latter is the **** stick I thought it was going to be.

If you're running IS FLD, you literally have nothing to fear. You can spank mechs all the same as before.

I really hope PGI doesn't go too nerf houndy. These mechs feel nice and play well.

After playing more I think the UACs are in an ok place...they will wreck you ig you are standing still but do spread around a lot more than I thought against targets that can dodge.

My TBR variants replaced: LRM Catapult, Meta VTR-DS, and added a Light hunter to my arsenal.
Dire Wolf has replaced my Atlas.
Kitfox will likely replace my Raven.

Until you run into the ERPPC/Gauss Timberwolf. (Like a DS, only 89kph...and survives losing a torso.)

a ) harder to dodge arty
b ) longer to get in cover from LRMs and LoS damage
c ) longer to get to capture in conquest and of course
d ) longer to support / flank or route an enemy...

Speed is just as important as the size of the weapon you equip. Don't believe me? Go play a light for 10 hours and see how well you do running at 100 max

umm even on the NGN stream one of the gusy made a comment like dying in 2 or 3 shots in his timberwolf.. that is not a good thing.....
