Nice, but what is Lyran Alliance decal doing on a 50-tonner?

Definitely not something I would've expected, but an interesting choice. The artwork actually makes this mech look decent. Should be a good, fast alternative to the Catapult; I assume the Catapult is aimed more towards getting a good look over the battlefield from an optimal spot on high ground, while the Trenchbucket is more of a hit-and-run support mech that can literally run circles around its targets.

Me? If the TBT-7K makes it into the game, I could be very interested (as it has a very different loadout consisting of an AC5, PPC and SRM-2)...

Superb - that really caught me by surprise . . . very happy to see it and great looking art!

This chassis will offer some interesting customization options that aren't there with the Centurion and Hunchback.

I'm not a friend of the missile boats, but I think it's always good to have different options for similar roles, so you don't always have to work with the same mechs in your team. Why should you take it instead of the catapult ? Different looks. If that isn't enough for you, you'll only need 1 or 2 mechs anyway

For whatever reason, the Trenchbucket has always had a warm place in my heart. Glad to see it make it in to the fray.

Ok, I am sorry but aside from this being one of the few redesigns I dont care for, what is the point of having a Trench Bucket when we already have Catapults as one of the first launched mechs? What possible advantage does it convay?

He shouts as another 30 LRM’s arc out of his Trebuchet. They arc up, then slam down onto the Hunchback, it's readout showing a precarious 55%, missing left arm, and severely damaged left and right torsos. The other three Triangles are closing fast - he let's off another volley at the Hunchback as he angles his legs back and to the left, constantly moving backward. Cycling through the enemies, he reads a Catapult C1, Atlas D, and another Hunchback, only this one is a 4SP.

Hey, does this mean that the Hunchback HBK-4SP is now a confirmed variant?

I'm having a hard time figuring out why I should use this instead of a Catapult. Sure, the Catapult's slower, but it's got jump jets.

Maybe it's just me. At least the option's there for those who want it.

The 5S version, which you'll be able to make with the hard points on the pictured 'mech, is an excellent scout hunter and flanker. Neither the Catapult, the Hunchback, nor the Centurion will be able to pull off what the Trebuchet 5S can do.

It also moves 360 meters per minute faster than a Catapult, so the LRM variation can do much better giving reactive fire support than can the Catapult. It'll do well supporting a scout lance, for example.

360 meters per minute is a lot of battlefield, and it'll mean ready fire support on the flanks.

Speed, smaller target profile, medium mech line (not everyone will want to play heavy missile boats), the speed alone can allow much different tactics than the catapult.

I'll take your word for it. As far as scouting mediums go, I'd rather have the Cicada, but there is an advantage in a multipurpose chassis like this. I don't think it's for me, though.

TBT-7K - The 7K Trebuchet is a radical departure from the 5N model. The entire weapons loadout has been removed from the Mech and replaced with a weapons mix similar to the Vindicator. The 'Mech carries a PPC and an Autocannon/5 as its primary weapons. For close range combat, the 'Mech carries an SRM-2. This weapons mix takes the Trebuchet from a fire support 'Mech to an all around workhorse design, while giving it a support weapon that does not require ammunition.

TBT - I love the Smell of LRMs in the morning...

The loveable TrenchBukkit! Gimme, makes a great fire support complement to a Scout lance.

Check out the likely variants list posted on the first page. There is one PPC & AC/5 armed variant and one variant that comes with JJs among others. That might make this the first medium with JJs. As it is comparably speedy compared with the Hunchie and Cent but with more combat power then the Cicada. This might make it an excellent anti-scout in addition to its obvious fire support role.
