while this is a classic chassie i feel its been done, the catapult is a duel LRM 15 + med laser rig
id have prefereed something like a Enforcer.
i dont want to see the game get too guided missle happy.
id prefer gunnery skills be more prevelant then just lock and fire then forget rinse repeat.

and if they NEEDED another med missle boat why not Dervish? just to be dif from the catapult
the trenchbucket brings nothiing to the table the cat doesnt already have..

The cat is not 50 tons (medium class), the cat is nowhere near as fast. Trebuchet can use different tactics than the cat despite similar loadouts.

I believe it's a good adition to the mech list.

A nimble, fast, all-around capable mech is always welcome in my books x)
While the loadout is similar to the Catapult's, it can have a much different tactical approach.

I would take it for its anti scout role for sure.

Great addition imo...

Trebuchet with originally 5/8/0 movement and 50t
vs. Catapult with 4/6/4 and 65t

This should work completely different with regards to playstyle, although their loadout is quite similar.

Meh, Maybe they should start adding more notable mechs for people that are new to the series and only recognize few mechs. Ask me 10 years ago, and the only mechs I know on here are Atlas, Catapult, Jenner and hunchback. I'm disappointed, we need real "Workhorses" and less specialized mechs for the start of the game. You start with the basics and go from there.

I have to agree to some Point with you, maybe it would be good to go for the other 3049 title in the Mechwarrior Saga.
Mechwarrior 2 Mercenaries.
It is one of my Favourites of the Saga, Imo even the best, yes the Jumpjets were a little overpowered, but you had the fullscale TT employed, and a great Choice of the IS Mechs from the Time. Not all but a good Choice out of them.
Maybe go this Mechchoice Mechs would be a good Idea.
(Btw ALL Mechs out of MW2Merc would be great, in Random Encounter Heavy Lance you might encounter a Warhammer !)

And gimme Inferno Rockets, Flamer for heating up Enemies ! Making the allmighty Energy Mechs suddenly very weak.
Jumpjets to do Death Jumps !

Trenchbucket is okay, but I'll admit I'd have rather seen the dervish. Same weight range, great mix of lrms and srms. Has to have always been one of my favorite mediums. Still, have to admit the bucket has a more distinctive look to it, and they seem to have done a good job on the model.

You mean, we finally need a 50 tons mech, with autocannon and lasers, so the Enforcer would be a good choice, alternatively it could be the Centurion or Hunchback? Oh, wait... ;)

All in all, the choice of the Trebuchet is solid. Finally the medium weight class has one mech which, albeit only in a variant, has jump jets. The Dervish would have brought jump capacity in every version, while also being a nice missile carrier, but the Trebuchet is a close second and will do nicely. :D

(Uh, looking at the picture again: is it just me, or is the Treb's zipper open? B) )

Putt Foot into Mouth.

Trebutchet is a MW2 Mercs unit.

From all the Mechs only Cataphract isn't.

I think they went down the right role, it's a great addition to the Centurion that is already out. It will fill the role of the medium lance support role you'll find with alot more speed and mobility over the heavier Catapults will probably see it skirting the battlefield picking off targets.

As for Dervish, I find I'm 50/50 on whether it was this or Dervish. Dervish is gear'd abit lighter on long-range engagment and more on a quick close-range punch against lighter battlemechs like the recons that might try to harass it.

Oh, hey.

All three plants that build the Trebuchet are in the Free Worlds League. Meaning that house Marik has a strong claim to a discount on all of the Medium Mechs so far. And the Awesome.

And if you take all 4 Mediums thus far released and put them in a Lance, you get...

Cicada - Scout
Hunchback - Close Range (Defender)
Trebuchet - Long Range (Attacker)
Centurion - All rounder (Commander)

Or the hypothetical Marik Lance.

PS the Stalker is also built in the FWL and Lyran space.

Marik needs no more Mechs, lets focus on Kurita and Liao for a while.

also keep in mind dont just look at standard loadout all mechs have variants and players are going to modify everything they can .

Trebuchet adds one thing new a new chassie and looks completly difrnt then the catapult ( not everyone likes the look of the catapult so might take a Trebuchet instead and not everyone is going to play the biggest heaviest mech they can find that fills the role they want )

This blows me away. How do they continue to take ugly mechs and make them so Fabio?!

Quote: "Its a Medium meaning it will use your medium skill tree skills along with other mediums."

I don't have 2 different Mechs from 1 weight-class, but does this mean, when you achieved Master-Status with, let's say a hunchback, you can level each other medium mech to Master without buying 3 different versions of that mech?

No.

Cause you have to get it to elite first, what means 3 unlockes Basics with the same chassis. Trebuchets in this case.

Methinks the TBT-5S is going to be a murderous ambush predator.

I love the looks though! Maybe I'll pick one up. I'm intrigued by the AC/5 variant to be honest.
