So... What Crazy (But Usable) Settups Did You Come Up With?

My personal Favorite, though it needs some tweaking as its 100% ammo dependent (or was), Is a Dire Wolf with:
4x Clan UAC-2's
2x Clan LBX-20's
(will add 2 lasers (one to each of the arms) to remove the 100% ammo dependency)
As off-the-wall as this was (did it on a whim), it actually worked amazingly well. Got 5 kills with it on its maiden voyage under that setup. And there's just something satisfying about seeing a Light/Medium Mech simply melt after taking dual LBX-20's to the face, or side. (i literally one-shot both legs out from under a moving light at one point during the night)
So what odd/crazy... But useful, setups did everyone manage to find?

That said, I did run one with 2x UAC20, 2x ERPPC and 4x MG, and another with a UAC20, 2 UAC5 and 2 ER PPC and both did well, unless I got flanked.

OTOH LURMs were effective due to there being so many people piloting Clan mechs with no AMS and Kit Foxes being too selfish to equip their 3x AMS along with their ECM suites.
One wonders whether or not the playerbase will be smart enough to realize that all they need to do is take AMS to solve the- ha! I couldn't keep a straight (virtual) face. Yeah, Lurms are gonna get nerfed.
*I tried mapping them to both left and right click and alternating, then I tried mashing them at the same time, then I tried just seizure-tapping them... they pretty much worked whenever they damn well felt like it, which was generally not for very long when I was facing down an enemy mech.

I will say that the Nova Prime variant run stock falls right into this category nicely- broken into groups of 4 and stagger-fired, the Nova can fire 16 lasers before it has to stop, which is like 112 damage in several seconds time.

Why does that make me think of the Vulture?........ Might have to pick up a Stormcrow when their in the Mechbays now...

I dont remember seeing many AMS hardpoints available on the clan mechs I was driving. Maybe I didnt notice them, but it was something that stood out as odd to me.

I Actually wanted to try that.. but then the servers started not letting me get past the 'connecting' or 'searching' screens... so gave up on that attempt. Asside from the firering issues, did it seem to work well (no ammo issues/heat issues?)

I tried a quad UAC5 Dire Wolf instead of six, but even firing full tilt I was either heat neutral or so close I didnt notice.

There Not on the "Prime" Varients.. but some of the 'pods' have AMS capability.

10 tons heavier, 50% more armor, extra AMS and ECM all kinda make it a wee different from a locust.

Yeah those were fine.
You should hop on the bandwagon and get in your harmless fun before it gets unjustly nerfed.

4 ERML
2 UAC5 - 5 tons of ammo
2 JJs
4 ERML
2 UAC10 - (3 or 4 tons of ammo)
4 ERML
2 AC10s - (3 or 4 tons of ammo)
2 ER PPCs
1 UAC20 - (3 tons of ammo)
2 ER PPC
4 SRM6 - 6 tons of ammo
2 JJs
2 LPL
2 SRM6 - 6 tons of ammo
2 SRM4
2 JJs
I took a bunch of stocks for a test spin and the only one that really stood out to me was the Dire A. Those 3 LPLs could completely ignore ghost heat. 3 LPLs and 1 Gauss literally ripped stuff to pieces in the testing grounds. 2 salvos to take out a Cataphract or Awesome without even using the cSSRM6s. Literally 1 shotted a Catapult. Pretty clear indication that 2 ER PPCs, 2 Gauss would be effective, and deadly. I'm not an assault pilot though.
One of the shocking things I noticed was that most had their arms locked, but I later learned you could swap arms and enable lower actuators to solve that for some mechs. I was going to customize a Summoner but was having too much fun in an earless Timber Wolf (which got a LOT of comments from people)

I went with the AC/20 over the Ultra/20 because I kept running into heat problems. Trigger discipline is a problem! Ranges on the weapons seemed to mesh well.
Summoner: 1x Ultra AC/5, 1x ER PPC, 1x LRM 10
No trigger discipline problems with the Ultra/5, however. Just keep clicking the mouse and use the tracers to land your ER PPC shots.
Dire Wolf: 1x Gauss Rifle, 2x Ultra AC/10, 2x ER Large Laser
Oddly, the 2x Ultra AC/10s outperformed, for me at least, the dual Ultra AC/20 combo. Heat kept rising, and even trying to stagger the Ultra 20s had only a limited effect on heat generation. The dual 10s were perfect in combination, however, and linking the arm-mounted ER Large Lasers and the Gauss Rifle together worked out well, too. By the time the beam duration was finished on the ERs, the Gauss was ready to fire by releasing the mouse button.

uac10, 2 ERML, ERSL, 2 SRM6, AMS, 11 DHS
ERLL, 2 MPL, ERSL, 2 SSRM6, AMS, BAP, 14 DHS
2 LRM20, 2 SSRM4, 2 ERML, BAP (slightly modified D loadout, dropping the narc and 2 tons of lrm ammo for 2 ML and streak 4s instead of srm2)
LRM20, 2 SSRM6, 4 ERML, 13 DHS, BAP (pretty close to stock A, with ERML instead of MPL, 3 additional dhs and bap)
Overall, the stormcrow is very straightforward to configure, as it comes with max armour, and clocks at 97 kph, with 23 tons of pod space.
