Okay, Hawkeye, 55 for Armageddon Unlimited within the next few hours, my friend. I have three to induct between the rest of today and tomorrow sometime, and we just opened up our First Detachment (UK/AUS), so I'm sure we'll get a little more attention, soon.

A note on figure 2 about the mercenary affiliations. I thought noone was allowed to use canon merc company names. If we were allowed to join a canon merc company I would definitely join Wolf's Dragoons.

Yes, the developers have said no Canon units allowed, though they may consider allowing people to be members, NOT commanders, of those units, down the road, almost like they're doing with the House units and, likely, what will happen with the Clans.

So essentially those like the Dire Wolves, Wolf's Dragoons Alpha Regiment are not even allowed to use the name and are pretty much organizing for nothing? I mean IGP will tell them to change the name of the group and they won't be affiliated with Wolf's Dragoons.

would really like some updates stats so can try and guess how many people are trying to get into the beta. like knowing my odds or how low they have got
funny thing is 9% of founders would be in closed beta if the number of founders hadnt changed from the 27 of june.

Every one of these groups, most likely, are attempting to get their reorganization on, now, so I don't believe it will be a problem.

It was HOT and I missed out on the family cornhole trophy by one point (that's what I get for playing the championship game sober).

This game, even if it were a brand new IP, would never appeal to women. With only ~150K registered and the game already in beta phase, what this game needs is to appeal to more and more men who don't know the IP but who do play similar F2P arena combat/FPS games. We don't need people who play Farmville or Angry Birds. We need people who play League of Legends and Team Fortress 2.

While I would agree that the vast majority of women I know who play, do perfer casual games or RPGs (mmo or otherwise), there are a lot of us out here who enjoy playing something more strategic, challenging- and lets face it- FAR more awesome than 'farmville'. But you imply that all women only enjoy playing with their 'paper dolls'. We need more men who don't know the IP, true, but we also need more ladies. We need more young women- not just to play this game, but to expose them to the amazing games that have been such a 'boys club' for so long. If any of you have daughters or a wife or female friends, it never hurts to ask if they'd like to play a game with you, you might be surprised by the answer. I truely wish more women played these games- I loved Chrome Hounds, and WoT has been amazing as well... I'm more excited about this release than I've been in ages for pretty much anything. (also I don't want this to sound like i'm accusing anyone of sexist behavior- you make valid points, but they're valid points we should try to tear down.)

I think it will be solely up to the ladies to commit or not. I have been under the impression that most are too sneaky to show their colors in WoT unless the climate of the group allowed for it or other motivations drove them out of hiding. When the average group is a sausage party it doesn't really encourage them to speak up. I just don't see it happening on a large scale unless the ladies draw enough of their female friends. Also MW:O is rather confrontational by nature and can be downright unforgiving. I'm not trying to imply anything here, but there must be a reason why 'friendly' games are seemingly more popular with the ladies in general.

Or maybe women don't like identifying themselves among folks who blatantly stereotype and generalize, who awkwardly fawn over girl gamers like decorational pieces, or gloat over being their boyfriend/husband like they're trophies! Maybe they're uncomfortable with a subculture steeped in rape jokes and gendered insults!

This isn't targeted at you or anything, I'm just sayin'. I've literally never played an online game on a public server with a female who was using voice communication for more than half an hour and NOT heard someone be a gigantic creep. Anyone who thinks the main reason females are either absent from internet game communities or incognito is girls not like games, girls not being "confrontational", or anything else on the girls' end is in all likelihood part of the problem.

No, I'm pretty sure the answer involves trite, doll based, explanations. (For reals, the gamer community always makes me depressed, a la the MRA bullshit comments in the Magistracy of Canopus newsflash a couple of weeks back.) Anyone holding beliefs that women don't form a decent part of the hardcore community should hit up one of the more reasonable community gatherings. The female/male ratio tends to hit pretty even.

Touche. I don't really think this problem is one-sided however. You have all sorts of gold diggers and girls with daddy issues as well. Ain't much better than the average creep from what I've experienced. Bad examples really tend to stick given enough of them and stereotypes exist for a reason. Denial and pointing with fingers at others won't change that. Just sayin'.
Growing a thicker skin is obviously out of the question since we are all entitled to our own opinion and don't need to see the other side of the argument. So long.
