OP, the resistance to Clans will be simple. When four numerous Clans invade an underpopulated FRR, guess what will happen. It should be nice to see how the other factions fare though, especially the Mariks.
Even if things turn out bad for the clans, so what, I have no issues with living in Periphery. Nice view from up there, you know.

Actually they never made a firm statement as to how player actions may or may not impact the invasion timeline. Going back to closed beta there were many discussions of the topic in the FRR section.

I'm not up on current events, but I imagine there is still no definitive description of how player actions impact the "map."

then you are really not up to date.. not 2 weeks ago they SPECIFICALLY stated we could hold back the clans right from the start of their attempt :D

well at least that´s their current stand

just a quick question, because i´m curious...

who of all the people around here will stand and fight for the IS when Community Warfare kicks in and the clans knock on our doors?

especially since PGI said we would be able to stop the invasion from the very beginning, i think it would be interesting to see how our "resistance" will form up...

PLEASE no balance discussions or "Clans UP/OP" arguments...

just a simple " I am a spheroid, and i will always be" :)

Steiner Scout lances. Tasty targets! :)

Now they need to add in the Zeus.

Always been a bigger fan of the IS desgins. Victor and battlemaster are my favorite TT mechs.. Plus I can't take any culture that advocates Eugenics seriously .

I'm IS all the way - never liked Clan cheese.

In fact, in my BT Universe it's a perpetual 3025 and there's not a Clanner in sight.
No, Wolf's Dragoons are not Clan, they're just really good mercs - the way they were before they were retconned into some overpowered vat-grown munchkin-esque bastardization of everything that's good and balanced.

And I have a first edition Tales of the Black Widow Company here in my bookshelf to prove it.

Take that, Clan filth. Along with a hefty helping of AC shells and laser beams. LRM's are on the House :)

Yeah my high speed (345 rate) Battlemaster is a tasty Medium Mech! And a good Light Mech like the Zeus has been a mainstay of the Lyran Commonwealth for many a decade.

As for tasty targets... Dire Wolves and Warhawks are delicious! ;)

When Community Warfare is ready, the Clans will only occupy a small number of planets. This is where players will have the ability to follow a recreation of the Clan Invasion by forcing their way down into FRR territory and harassing House Steiner and House Kurita along the way. However, if the Inner Sphere players are organized, they can even change the course of BattleTech history and try to stop the Clans in their tracks.

I only play IS, but I'm not sure yet if I'll be around by then, since mixed teams in public matches is really not my kind of thing.

Depends.

If they follow through and neuter the IS's only real advantage at the moment, better overall FLD weaponry (which d o need tweaks, not outright banishment) then, why would I play IS when they are just going to be worse, patchwork, versions of the Clan Mechs, once they are all reduced to be cookie cutter clones, with a universal and generic DoT weapon mechanic being used across the board.

Once the ACs get nerfed, then the peeps will decide that PPCs really need it too, and hey, you know, now those Gauss, they are awful powerful... can we make them into HAGs and have them fir e a stream of small shells to make them DoT too?

And gosh...those missiles....... IS is too powerful with them being FLD.... can we make them all streamfire, just like the Clan LRMs? Because, gosh I die to LRMs...... bso please nerf them too?

And so goes the road to competitive online cup stacking, and the birth of PapercutWarrior: Online.

At which point, if I haven't just abandoned the game entirely, why would I want to play IS anymore?

Well, see, here is the problem. This isn't Battletech, this is MWO. If this was Battletech all these things would apply:

#1 My one jump jet on my Highlander would lift me just as high, take me just as far, and cost me just as much heat as one jump jet on your jenner.
#2 I'd have a Warhammer... Screw of Harmony Gold.
#3 My DHS would actually work like 2 regular HS.
#4 I would have to even think about ghosts or specters or anything else messing with my heat.
#5 One of my MAIN concerns would be paying for repairing and rearming my mech.

The list goes on and on, but I've made my point.

Now that we have established this is MWO and not Battletech I'll happily be a Pirate using whatever tech I want to use to shoot whoever I want to shoot. I've accepted this isn't Battletech, but that doesn't mean it's not a cool stompy robot game based on the Battletech world.

You don't have to pick a side. Playing for one faction doesn't hurt your rep with the others. You could play for FRR one day and Ghost Bear the next and all would be happy! :)

Of course I will oppose the Clans, I'm a ComStar fan. Its what the Blessed Order exists for, saving the Inner Sphere from itself by imposing the Word upon all and sundry.
