What did I miss? I figured an SRM fix would make some of them brutal brawlers.

Joke topic.

Stalkers are Inner Sphere. No Inner Sphere mechs are coming out today. Something can't be obsoleted when nothing comes out to obsolete it.

Clan mechs can obsolete it. Since clan and IS mechs can be on the same team. So theyre competing for assault spots on the team.

Obsolete no. They still have good hardpoints, hill hump and good LRM FLD. Certainly the demand will be lower.

yea, the first weeks us IS pilots will feel kinda exotic on the battlefield i guess... until many many ppl realize that they are not any better in "teamwork dependent mechs" then they were before... then we will see, PGI weill either buff the clans and make IS totally unplayable, or people switch back to IS poptarts :D

the latter is about the time when i start buying clan mechs

Well if their competition is the 85 ton Warhawk then no, don't go selling off your Stalkers just yet.

Warhawk is a very easy target, looking like waffle house on stilts that it does. All cross sections, primarily frontal, are much larger than that of a STK. It's pretty easy to disarm with those low slung, giant arms, and will never even dream of hill humping like the Stalker can.

STKs obsolete? pfffft NO. Hell I'll be running my FOUNDER atlas all day. And that thing is about as non-optimal as it comes.

It ain't the mech....

Its still going to be the toughest mech on the battle field, and SRMs are going to register so it will be fine.

If I remember correctly my old 3F could pack a 90ish Alpha with Mediums and SRM6's without overheating.... So i would have to say, not really....

Edit.. After checking Smurfy I came up with 92.80 Alpha, 4xMedium, 2x LrgPulse, 4x SRM6's, Std300 engine and Max armor. 62.9Kph with SpeedTweak. :D

Oh I remember those days!

Pffft the Stalkers are my 1000+ point battlemechs.
And I don't see that changing anytime soon.
Fear the Stalker.
Seriously do.

I for one will be playing 50/50 IS/Clans. One match in an IS, one in a Clan. I have to spread my fun around to all flavors.

Well, stalkers can slow down a bit to be in line with the DWF adding more tons to firepower but having some equally slow buddies/enemies.

I had a SRM build way back in Beta (when SRMs were a thing) that owned balls.

The SRM fix means you will finally see LRMless STK-3F brawlers again.

Mine used to be a 98 alpha beast, currently it has an 89.6 damage alpha strike with the exact same loadout it had back then.

The Stalker is one of the mechs least likely to become obsolete. Due to it's fantastic hitboxes, massive number of hardpoints and the placement of those hardpoints there is simply no other mech like it. It simply can do things other mechs, Clan or IS, can't. That's why I don't think the Stalker is obsolete or will become obsolete even a couple of years from now.
