You will need to have a working teamspeak client to be an effective member of the team, but you can certainly turn off your mic. That is exactly what some of our members do.

That would be a great tool Kni. Probably have to wait till they get all the bugs fixed first though.

I am assuming that this will improve performance ... otherwise, whats the point, i guess it says it allows more mem use but what does that mean, what amount of memory will be able to take advantage of using the 64bit client? just saying ...

Yes, the game will now be able to utilize the additional memory available on many modern machines.
