To be honest i am seeing too many Dire Wolves around :D

To be honest, they have been really hit or miss for me. I have some really good matches, but I also have some REALLY bad ones. Reminds me of playing a Rogue in WoW - whoever gets the drop on the other will win 99% of the time.

Here is a non-DW match, if you would rather see more of those: http://youtu.be/JBR1TFNinQM

Damn you guys run ALOT of rear armor on your DWs, where do you find you get shot most? front CT right, If you are feeling at all squishy I suggest upping the armor there by atleas 10-20 points. Nice quad LBX10 build BTW I love my LBXDW builds!

Also sindarian is that a squirrel clawing open its own chest? If so, that is AWESOME!

Thanks. Glad to represent the Bear proudly!

As far as the CT, it is like night and day. YMMV, of course, but the DW CT was like a supermagnet for me. The changes in this patch have made them finally feel like an actual assault mech, capable of leading a charge, instead of some glass cannon support mech.

Compare my armor in the above video to this one from last night: http://youtu.be/SXw-9OiathM (btw, it sure would be nice if I could imbed videos on these forums on my iPad...)

The Gauss/ER PPC Dire Wolf is a beast; no surprises there. However, I think I have more fun swapping the second gauss out for an LRM-15 and 20 with artemis on the A variant. Not as brutal, but has more tactical application with indirect fire support.

Very nice job! Makes my Ace look like a cub in comparison.

Your A variant might be nice, as I love my pogoLRMer (aka Timber Wolf), but a single Gauss just does not have the thump I need for the charge cost, and it runs quite a bit hotter with those LRMs, does it not?

Thanks! I had been being lazy, but figured I should finally get rid of the concept art version and go with what I actually piloted, since it has been out for a few weeks now...

I really like how the Dire Wolf turned out, btw. Yes, it does look like a 747 stuck halfway out of its hangar, but it looks amazing anyways! I wonder if I can get away with calling it a "Dire Bear"... Hmmmm

it tends to be how we name it among the Clan at times :D

I also like my Dire Kodiak... built like a Kodiak but with pulse lasers vs the er meds.

Since Clans came out I have started jump sniping in a summoner. I wasn't a fan of this play style, but the speed and mobility the Thor brings to this poptarting I find truly addicting, manged to get my Ace Of Spades even!

The armor values are adjusted ALOT and were tweaked heavily to make room for ammo and compensate for being constantly legged in Summoners, and half the mech being a shield, and never being hit in the head.

Another cool part about it is it has a 1.78 heat eff. and 15% faster firing energy and ballistic weapons, making the gauss ERPPC combo even more effective.

Wow, very nicely done!

I have had some good matches in the Timber Wolf, but have not tried out the Summoner yet. Also not much of a fan of the jump sniping meta, though I do like to poptart around with my lighter LRM boats (TWolf and Trebuchet). Do you keep arm lock on in that build? (Issue I always had with my DS, as I dislike arm lock)

(Edit for spoiler tag to cut down length)

No I hate arm lock and I dont use shift to center my shots I just do it myself. It isnt hard once you have done it enough. Also having the actuator on the empty arm means you can fire at any angle with the CERPPC which is really handy when you run out of gauss or have to shoot at high or low angles.

Same. Just not a fan of the setup, though I may give it a shot on my TWolf and see if I like it better than the Victor.

I know I'm not a Ghost Bear, but I can't help but feel as though you guys are like my future brother and sister mech pilots, and that we'll get along rather well some time far off in the future. This plus the fact that I hadn't seen any Uller (Kit Fox) builds in the thread, I thought I'd share mine.

LRMbrella Kit Fox

Posted Image

This is my ultimate Deathball support mech, ECM plus triple AMS (and the faster firing rate module) = LRMs be gone. Also, yes that is 11k ams ammo (and I've had matches where I've used over 10000). I play this when I want to protect that lovely assault/heavy mech in my life from all those evil LRM boats. On the downside, I tend not to do too much damage in this mech (typically 200-300) as I focus more on keeping my teammates LRM free, and there are no cbill/exp rewards for shooting down missiles with AMS...

Fire Support Kit Fox

Posted Image

This one trades out all the AMS, and the active probe for an ERPPC and a couple extra heat sinks. A more offensive build than the LRMbrella, this Kit Fox can dish out some pain at all ranges, has some machine guns to help finish off weakened enemies at close range, and ECM to help out the team/be sneaky. While I don't put out as much damage as you guys in your heavier clan mechs, with this setup I can often put up 500 to 600 damage with a couple kills (which IMO isn't too bad for a light mech who also helps the team with ECM coverage.) and occasionally even more.

The TBR-Prime is a nice initial set up...but you'll overheat like a champ once in a fight. Recommend swapping out the PPCs for ER-Large Pulse lasers. They are the same tonnage, do more damage, and generate less heat.
