I'm currently attempting to level a locust, and with the clans invading I'm kinda like a marshmallow wrapped in wafers, so i die really quick.
however I always stay on and watch the action and post intel on what my spectator cam can see through the eyes of some mechs in team chat.
I was actually thanked last game as my intel apparently helped win the game, and I thought that If I can get a somewhat better picture of the battlefield by watching many people's screens, why dont we have the potential for intel officers?
now I'm not talking "command module" or leader mode, but just someone who's in spectator view from the start, has good communication skills and can relay information to the mechwarriors on their team to help them survive. seems to be effective so far.
I guess it sorta has a basis in lore, or at least the battletech cartoon (not sure if that one counts as lore tbh)
you could include map markers, like "last known position of contact Delta" or a vague red blob as "enemy in the area". or even just like a whiteboard marker to draw on people's minimap
anyways, just a random musing, wanted to know if anyone else has thought of this at all.
Anyone Else Wish There Was An Intel Position?

A Mechcommander-position has been proposed in the forum by some players (me among them).
The big unsolved problems:
1. How to deal on the fly with an utterly incompetent Mechcommander who leads the unit to disaster?
2. How should rewards be calculated? (good Mechcommander, victorious team; bad Mechcommander, victorious team; good Mechcommander, ****** team; bad Mechcommander, ****** team)
Possible solution for No.1 is that your statistics as a player have to be better than X and that your faction-loyalty (once it gets introduced with CW) has to be higher than Y.

Yes please. I love a few rounds in a nice arena shooter once in a while, but that's not why I play Mechwarrior. Mechwarrior 2 earned my love by being a unique sort of first-person-strategy; MWO is fun, but is essentially a slower TF2 or Hawken.
A command role wouldn't fix this by itself, but it'd be an amazing first step.
Aside from base win/loss bonuses, I wouldn't mind seeing a 'donate 25% of earnings to Commander' button. I'd happily give some of my earnings to a good leader just out of gratitude, especially if average CB income were increased to compensate.

Several problems:
1. People don't stay all through the end when their Mech is destroyed.
2. 25% would be a bit much though. 12 players, 10%, only half of them bother to credit the Mechcommander -> He gets 60% of the average reward.
3. People would be far less willing to donate when a match is lost.
4. This would work for C-Bills and maybe GXP, but not for XP.
How about this:
- If your statistics say that you are a better-than-average player, you can search for a match-position as Mechcommander.
- A Mechcommander can earn C-Bills and GXP.
- Winning matches as a Mechcommander betters your statistics slightly.
- Losing matches as a Mechcommander worsens your statistics drastically.
- If you search for a game as a Mechwarrior, you can choose whether you want your team to have a Mechcommander or not.
- If you end up in a team with a Mechcommander, 8% are automatically deducted from your rewards, XP excluded.

Interesting. But right now with the new Clan Mechs I feel like someone painted a Bulls eye on me. I have gone from making triple kills to getting triple stomped..

I don't know about a mechcommander sort of thing. Ideally the person who grabs the commander tag should actually be doing something with that.
Something that would be cool is if I had a key to transmit the IDs of mechs I am currently detecting. I play light mechs a lot which means I am the defacto scout, but when I make contact with the enemy I am usually a bit busy dodging fire to list the mechs I have seen and their locations in team chat.

this idea in itself sounds like a step towards community warfare.

Totally down for info gathering.
-Should be noted that there's Betty audio in the current build for "Scout target info incoming" just not integrated yet.
They should implement the ability to populate the Scoreboard with enemy mech variant IDs one they are scanned, so the light scout actually sends good info back to the team. Each time a new enemy mech is scanned, the aforementioned Betty clip would sound.
-LCT with dual AMS - 2T Ammo - BAP - TAG
Sensor Range, Cap Accel Module & AMS Range Module
(Do LCTs have 3 mod slots when Mastered?)
