This.. a million times this. In fact this module is so bad that it pretty much reduces LRMs into direct fire weapons with abysmally slow speed and uncontrollable blanket damage unless your team has a dedicated spotter or two. It completely trumps the target decay module as I found out last night. Even if you sight them and fire, if you loose sight at all during the flight time you immediately lose lock and waste your salvo. Add to that the craptastic tracking on the CLRMs where you can shoot and if the target moves a bit to the side when the missiles get close, the missiles will hit the place the target was even if you had target lock the whole time.

So if you fear the lrm spam (particularly clan), grab one of those modules and throw on an AMS or two and you effectively neuter the LRM boats.

I don't want to neuter LRMs. I want them to be good, viable weapons not needing what is essentially a cheat to make the game playable.

They did. They banished it to the underhive, where Lords laugh and go "gg close" while reducing the LRM boats to scrap metal with contemptible ease. And they gave you another AMS boosting module. And radar dep. And a triple-AMS + ECM Clan 'Mech.

Cry more. Cry me a river about how a second-rate, repeatedly nerfed weapon system scared your PUG into cowering. At this point, there's so many soft and hard counters specifically for LRMs that your monthly whines on LRM spam and "I quits!" make me consider if perhaps you should simply get yourself banned, since you keep coming back after one "I quit!" after another.

And matches were poptartfests before LRMs were even made second-rate from being nearly useless, so don't give me that line of BS, either.

I've sat there next to a Kit Fox with AMS overload while a Timber Wolf volleyed LRM 40's at me.

Not a scratch. IS versions just result in about a 50% damage reduction or so for a similar barrage. At this point, yes- you could have a group mounting enough AMS capable of neutralizing assault-sized salvos.

You mean do I implement a half-baked cheat function into my game in order to provide some respite from over-saturation of a poorly-considered game mechanic?

The AMS on my IS mechs is next to useless for the amount of LRMS being used currently. It was bad enough before, but now it is twice as bad. Sure you can use cover if you can find it, but then it is a matter of sharing it with the other 11 mechs on your team. We have tried to cover our team mates with ECM, but often a light mech with TAG took them out.
