Yeah, I kinda skipped the Wolf in Exile story, zero interest at the time. I remember getting a bit cheesed that Ulric sent the Clans best warships to support a side show, seemed like he was giving up and I kinda went, meh.

But I'll catch up ;)

Far from it. He knew the Crusaders would push, and try to break the truce. Ulric knew that even if he defeated the Jade Falcons, another Clan would come, Smoke Jaguars or the Steel Vipers, maybe a homeworld Clan and finish off the Wolves. Ulric wanted the Warden faction of the Wolves to survive and as such sent them to the Lyran realm with Phelan Ward. Ulric then wanted to do as much damage to the Jade Falcons, as to have the Falcons vote against the immediate dissolving of the truce and a return to Operation Revival, being too damaged to take Terra.

It was all thought out, and he knew it was a War that would not be won, a war that would end in the destruction of Clan Wolf. So he decided to do as much damage to the Falcons and the Crusader Wolf Clan as possible.

So ummm, yeah he gave up? Ulric said to himself, we can't win, my warriors are not good enough to win, so what can I save.

Not very Clan like at all I suggest.

Certainly not a "might is right" view. By that dictate he should have been saying well, we lost, we were wrong.

CoffiNail : I still don't understand why the elders would have a ritual to prove their Ghost Bear bravery by killing the very thing that is a symbol of there power and brutality.
It's kinda like proving you are a man by killing your father...
Ill read it again. ;)
TNX for the explanation.

I kinda never thought it about like that either, but they do have trials for acceptance into the tourman which can involve killing the opponent (who you have just spent the last 16 years co habitating with) so it's hardly the only example of martial 'excellence' granting passage / promotion.

I was a Clan Ghost Bear until I read the book "Roar of Honor". In the first chapter it talks about a hunt that the cadets go on to track down and kill a Ghost Bear in order to advance their rank. Great tradition until you kill all the Ghost Bears...
This really disturbed me because why would you go out and kill your sacred animal? Sorry you don't gain its spirit you just kill a wondrous beast. <_<

I would much rather read about Joanna and Aden fighting...I mean having at it. B) :(

I think it is more of showing courange and skill. They respect the ghost bears and fear them. For this reason they are the ultimate test for a cadet

Or at least this is what i think, Jaroth Corbett could give you a better anwer.

I get it from the Clan rules and rights but the Bear gets zilch out of it.
I would understand if the Bear got a sacrifice of some sort, after all it is a "god sprit".( the Aztec gods got a virgin and a heart...a twofer)
Let's say the sacrifice to the Bear was the head of an Inner-sphere solder or hero that the Clawing contestant killed in battle and then he or she feeds it to the bear by hand, and in the last few seconds the Clawing contestant cuts a fist full of hair from the Ghost Bears fur, then returns to the elders to tell about his adventure.

Now that is worthy of respect as an officer, he or she has proven worth on the battlefield, bravery in the face of a brutal beast, surviving to tell about the adventure and giving the Bear a snack. I think that is respect to the Ghost Bear spirit.

I know, I didn't write the story but maybe I should make a short story about that TNX john :-)

I have purchased my Masakari Collection, so I will be ready to retake Terra in the name of Kerensky once again (beat MW2 as Jade Falcon)!

I really hope the Warhawk translates well from TT to MW:O, it was one of my all time favourites.

Just had the whole AT-AT on Hoth persona, strolling up through any old firefight and twisting slightly to the left and BLAM.... down you go in a firey explosion..........

Ah memories

Well, ghost heat is going to be the big thorn in the side of the clan mechs. Ghost heat will be the biggest difference from TT Clans.

Steele, you are a warden Coyote, what are you doing here?

Pffffft, not everyone believes that staying at home and resting beside the fireplace is the only way to bring enlightenment to the Inner Sphere.

and yeah, ghost heat, but still. Hopefully things are changing

Clan Jade Falcon...
Our Great Mitera has looked into your Clan heart and see's what you call honor, and how it is set aside when and how you choose and thus has sealed your fate.
Unlike Kerensky Chosen Wolves, or the Honorable Ghost Bears. The 21st Clan has very little respect for Falcons. This is why we will show Mercy to Wolfs and Bears.
Repent before its too late and your hearts are ripped to pieces!

(Excerpt from the The Final Reflection of Cole Ole Rej ) Fan Mechwarrior Fiction

"The 21st Clan" By D.R. Ballard"

"The 21st Clan which rest within The Barrens on outer most edge of Clan Ghost Bear space; separated for almost 250 years from the exodus shall be enforcing its own agenda. Our superior Technology and Mutation will castrate the misguided Clans and more importantly all the narcissistic parasites of the Inner Sphere! We will awaken your hearts or rip them to pieces in the name of the Great Miteria."

Silence freebirth! You dare to compare yourself to even the lesser wardens? The warriors of Clan Jade Falcon do not need or want your "mercy".

Amen Falconer ED!
Repenting is for Sallys and Nancys and you'll find none here.So move on if you are recruiting inferior warriors.

Honorless wardens hiding amongst the freebirths! The goal of Terra is never beyond the vision of Clan Jade Falcon.
