I think that posting at least one gameplay video every two weeks from the beta would help the community stay excited about the game and also put more content out there to draw new players to the game. With the NDA on all beta testers we hardly get anything at all as it stands. What do you guys think? Vote in the poll and post with your reasonings so the devs can see what we want :D

EDIT: DEV said he will back us lower in the thread. YaY!

I would love to see a full game of at least all 4 classes. I know there are a lot of people that are saying they are waiting to buy the Elite/Legendary Founders Pack untill they know more about the mechs and which one they want. So a full gameplay video would really help both us the non beta tester as well as the devs who want/need to make more money.

I agree totally. I think having more media will only boost popularity!

Several of my friends were totally unaware of the impending launch. More media and advertising would be a good thing I think, plus it makes the wait easier to bear... or harder? Who cares, bring out your vids!

[EDIT] Now that the poll has been changed from every week to every 2 weeks I voted "I don't care". I'd like to see new vids but if the dev team has to take time and resources out of making the game to meet a biweekly video quota I think it would be detrimental overall.

While video content is good, there is no real point in forcing it. The devs are probably busy enough as it is, and I'd rather my money and the dev's energy be spent working on polish, bug-fixing, content, etc... than a weekly video.

Once or twice a month seems reasonable.

Also, if you've noticed, most of their previous videos were linked with publications in game-magazines such as IGN and Gamespy. I think the devs are trying to maximise their reach here by releasing videos in conjunction with marketing campaigns. Marketing is expensive and time consuming after-all and these are not resources a small company can dwindle away.

I can see where you are coming from.... but I have to disagree. I am asking for just basic gameplay vids. They don't even need to be commentated. This would take literally no time at all.... Heck, let an intern do it. Video cap and upload. Call it the weekly Hot-drop!

Hmm, yes. I'd like to watch something like that, beta players would post these but the NDA is there because the devs don't think the game is ready to be shown off just yet.

Ultimately, a released video might not generate the intended publicity and one without comments might have people think it represents the quality of the game; as it stands, videos already generate waves of criticisms over auto-cannons, non-destructable trees, sliding mechs, mechs disappearing when killed etc...

Most gameplay videos released by any company will want to show it off in the best possible light, and that might be very hard to do in a random gameplay clip of an early beta product.

Yeah I can see the increased squabbling... but they do that already with no videos. At least with videos we could actually have reliable information about what is happening in beta.

Yeah... but if it's this way here think about how bad it'll be on youtube <_<

As I said, I'd like to see more videos myself but just not at the expense of the team's work on the game. The smart thing to do is get the big things out of the way like coding and servers and graphics, then as the game draws closer to release, start a marketing blitz with lots of content and vids!

I will help back your fight if you increase the time between them. Once a week is pushing on our available time to organize and run/record a test session.

I would love to see more videos, but I do understand the devs are very busy right now. 1 every 2 weeks does sound pretty reasonable though.

A better counter offer would probably be two a month (not counting all of June). That would give 3 videos between now and August 7.

Which I guess averages out to once every two weeks. Maybe every 3 weeks would be better. Guarantees 2 videos before early access while not distracting the developers from more important matters.

Good luck on your batchall. I personally am fine with the Mech releases! <_<
