cyclops with gauss and the c3 computer, gotta love it :)

Ive always been curious if the Heavy Lasors on the Blood Asp's arms count be exchanged for Gauss's, making for a total of 4 CGauss Rifles.

I do wonder how non hardpoint crit slots will work... I just haven't been able to play with the mech lab so who knows? Can I slap a small laser in the same torso as a ballistic hardpoint? What about areas that have no hardpoint? Can you even mount weapons there?

So many questions.

no each goes into the spacific catagory and you can only swap for others in that catagory (balistic, missile, energy) but if there is an energy hardpoint in that area you can. you can have nore than 1 type of hardpoint in each location and you can have more than one of each in one spot they are location spacific.

Areas with no hard point have no hardpoint that is it... i find these places great places to place ammo and heat sinks :)

no you cant mount weapons on places with no hardpoints

Thats actually kinda against the lore of battletech, the current system is acceptable.

i find that rather interesting since i own every book, technical readout, box game, senario packs, you name it i own it. only thing ever listed is that the inner sphere lost the technology to build mechs. but as the game progressed more and more you find out they can still build them.

not in this game gauss rifles are balistic and heavy lazers are not invented yet but if they were it would be an energy weapon.
EDIT:not unless it was in a spacific varien with balistic hardpoints in the arms. The blood asp is not invented at this time either. :)

True, but ripping out every weapon and launcher on a mech and replacing them with various lasers was never exactly easy to do until omnimechs came. But then again that really depends on if you're following Tac Ops and other high level rules when it comes to table top.

I am happy about the hardpoint limitation myself. However variants will make all mechs pretty customizable.

While linking the game to real time allows them to dodge sticky areas like the Jihad and Dark Age (see you in 2080), I think they'll bend their own rules eventually.

I wonder if when a new mech design is released by the devs and all the slots in your mech are full can you ditch one, or sell it back for a reduced number of C-bills as a used mech, how does that work?

I dont want to fill up all my meck bay only to find out that there is a newer superior model that I would like to have!

i honestly dont see them making 1 year of battletech = 1 real life year. i think the game would get to stale that way. i really do see updates coming faster then that.

i so hate ammo based weapons. if they do not give you the ability to swap those out this game is going to get lame fast. cuz i know i am not the only person who feels this way. even in the TT game you read some of the tech manuals you read where there are weapon swaps like an ac5 for a ppc.

Real Davions love a good autocannon

Only omnimech can do that if you have read everything you should be familiar with clan omni technology as well. IS does not posses this tech as of yet this tech arrived with clans they have introduced this technology. Soon after IS made their own omni variants and new mechs, weapons based on clan omni technology.

Previous MW games did not represent this correctly they mixed it up there was no truly omni technology in previous games all mechs were omnimechs even 3025 Atals you could remove everything and do what you want 95% of it that was not according to canon. MWO got it more accurate or more if not pure canon as it should. You get omin technology for your IS mech then you can truly mix things up but still not 100%. Even with clan omnimechs you still have rules the way you can set it up. More relaxed rules but still tonnage is a factor, engine, heat sinks etc.
