Protip: If you are getting hit by LRMs while "In Cover" look around for the spotter mech. Most likely it is flanking or behind you, has most of it's body covered with just enough sticking out to gain the lock, has systems to make targeting you easier, and has ECM.
There is a good chance that if you see me in a match in an ECM mech with TAG I have 2-3 friends in LRM mechs just waiting for the call for fire.

That is awesome.
LRMs aren't really a problem. I still haven't been killed by nothing but LRMs in I don't know how long if ever. A lot of what people complain about in relation to LRMs is that they see and feel the impact but don't recognize what else they were getting shot by. I'll take LRM damage as will most everyone else but it is the direct fire that really puts the punch through your armor.
I also think that people are getting used to the reality of the Clans. When you can still do damage at 0m with an LRM rack, you're not going to be inclined to shy away from them. And, when everything that the Clans have access to is DOT based, then there isn't that drastic of a decision to be made between missiles, ACs/PPCs, and lasers. So, a lot of people are running around with LRMs on their clan mechs. That, in turn, makes people feel like they're getting obliterated by LRM boats when, point of fact, it is all of the other damage that is really causing the problems. Sadly, nobody wants to say that they died to all three weapon types because it is a lot easier to just winge non-stop over lock on weapons that can be fired without direct LOS.
NOW, all of that being said, something does need to be done about the lethality of LRMs firing indirectly. We've been saying it all along and it is exactly why people hate LRMs like they do. The new module helps but it is an impractical solution given that PGI is making it a must have module when changing code could be just as simple (increasing the spread/lock on time when you don't have LOS). On the flip side, something also needs to be done to make LRMs more lethal when you have a target in the open. I still don't understand why I need to arc my missiles at a target within 300m.
