The reason why I hate Raven isn't because it interferes with my logs, that's just my reason for loathing people running up and coring the mechs I've damaged. Nor is it the key issue in this forum post. Yes, you get more c-bills for assists. Unfortunately, the reverse is true for exp, where kills grant more. My clan mechs are not mastered. The Ravens likely are. But that is beside the point. If you're going to keep bringing up those points, then that's just annoying, and it shows that you can't ignore my measure of a mech's success, the destruction of the enemy, the same way I ignore yours, the magic number of damage over everything. For example, an 800 damage game for me is all well and good, but a four to six kill match is amazing. Normally, in the process of scoring 800 damage, I will amass said amount of kills. But acting like my measure of a build's success is inferior to yours is a supremacist's POV, and it's not one I agree with.

Some of the best teams i have been on, are 12-0 victories, with one person barely over 300 and everyone else is in the 200 range... One match i added up the total damage back in 8v8 wasn't even 2k for the entire team. But i have to wonder how often you hate that same light mech that comes and saves you from being cored... Or distracts the enemy enough to let you rain down destruction because they had to think a second, or got Shot in the back armor.. and needs to rotate, and stop targeting you..

Does it bother you less when a Heavy, or assault get's the kIll? Or perhaps someone from 800m away that rains down LRMs too? When playing a light, to me that is the exact object... Finish mechs off by directly targeting a place someone else has ripped off armor, or Distract them so your teammates can kill them..

Nothing i love more when i am fighting in a brawl, and a light comes and joins me...If they get the kill, good for them, that means the enemy didn't kill me.. <_<

Personally what bothers me 10x more than solo lights.. Are people in assaults that hide behind a hill using 2 ERL's.. and end the match in full armor.. till they are the last ones and get killed by the flock.. had they only helped sooner.. might not of been a loss..

The Funny part of the post is,., here i was psyched as hell two nights ago when i finally got the "Seriously?" badge.... In case you didn't know, it is scoring top damage, and Zero kills.. But i did have 9 assists... For me i count success as how many people i Help keep from dying.. as the enemy is just about to finish them off... Like an offensive lineman,, It's all guts, and no glorry...

Wonder what the OP thinks about poptart Raven 4X. The Capellan Confederation is too poor at this very moment to buy Highlanders and Victors, so we must meta with what we have.

My opinion is mixed. Poptarting isn't really my forte - I only started using JJ-capable mechs recently when I mastered all of the Commandos and moved onto Jenners, and on top of that, as I have made it clear, I have never thought much of Ravens. However, from what I understand, the 4X is a ***** to build for. Plain and simple, it's nowhere near as easy to come up with a design for. Plus, I hate to say it, you're in a 4X. I EXPECT you to be roaming, jumping, and grabbing whatever kills you can. What I don't expect is for a 3L to sit off on his lonesome to "snipe", when really all he's doing is annoying enemy mechs by making himself slightly harder to shoot at than a moving Atlas-RS - a small, stationary ECM target certainly fits that bill, at least.

JC, To be honest, Ravens always earned my ire for doing that, but do you know what? That was because I never liked the mech in the first place, and because the early Raven builds were bad. I mean totally pathetic. Having a Raven on your team WAS a death sentence when I started playing, because back then, streaks were CT-drills, ECM didn't work, and Jenner was the most dangerous mech around. On top of that, the people who introduced me to Battletech hated Ravens, because they were played as combat mechs despite being designed for stealth. The only time one of them ever used Ravens was in Capture the Flag on... I think he said MW3, but it was years ago when we discussed it, so I don't remember exactly what game it was. He capped his engine, maxed his armor, and stripped all the weapons. Why? The only reason why he used Raven was for an ECM flag-stealer. Run in, grab the flag, then haul tail out while the enemy assaults tried to shoot him. Other than that use, he had no time for it.

I DO mind when LRM-boats grab my kill, but I often pass that off to damage-delay. If a Heavy does it, if I'm in a bad mood, I do still call it a KS. Likewise for an assault. But, do you know what the mech that gets those 800 damage games is? A stock Stormcrow Prime. Still in basic tier, of the three games it has played, it has scored two over 800 (892 on it's first, 802 on it's second). It's killed in every game it's played. My Misery got a six-kill game at 600 damage recently as well, and I was thankful for the teammates who stuck with me as I charged in, especially the guy in the Centurion who scored two kills from mechs that were already damaged and sneaking in behind me as I charged down an Orion that tried to run. (Seriously, we started off two down. My Misery counted for half their team, we finished with myself and that Centurion left.)

I don't hate the light mechs for interfering with my logs unless they take the mech from me, while I'm waiting for my guns to recharge and I'm in a critically damaged mech, and then run off again and leave me to die or limp to attempt to score a kill. Locust and Raven are the two worst offenders for that, but at least I understand Locusts - they're forced opportunists.

When I got the Philanthropist badge (12 assists, no kills), I was in my Centurion, and all I could do was shake my head in wonder. Haven't managed to get the Seriously?, but I haven't been actively aiming for it. To get that, I'd probably have to be using a metagame build, and I don't really own any metagame mechs. Or, y'know, I'd have to be boating LRMs, because I'm normally pretty dangerous with direct-fire weapons - I favor the pinpoint over the vast quantity.
