If you want to actually get a ton of people playing, may I recommend opening up the Clan mechs to everyone on the Public test? ,,

Also I really don't understand why they don't do this for all the mechs in public test. For example, I own something like 7 premium tanks in WoTs each and everyone bought ONLY after I had the opportunity to use them..

Funny I was thinking the same thing. Public test seems to be mostly a marketing tool9yes I am sure some good data comes from it) but suggestions seem to be mostly ignored. Besides if you got to test many of the mechs prior to buying them you might not buy them. I have 70 + there are many I wish I never bought but that is my play style your set you be different. Lots of mechs are a good thing but not having a place to test drive them at will is just marketing.

I would like to download (at least partially) the public test before live testing begins so that I have enough time to actually play. Yet when I attempt to run the public test client and patch the game, I get the message, "The servers are currently undergoing maintenance. Please try again later."

Is there any way to download the game ahead of time? It's multiple gigabytes, after all... gonna take a while...

no. wouldn't.

on the matchmaker side, you can always match the teams to be about equivalent weight (ranging from 240 to 1200), but you will never create a spoon+knife+fork set if only thing coming is forks

also, 3/3/3/3 does not balance the weight (3*as7 3*ctf 3*shd 3*jr7 is 780 vs 600 which can be the lowest)

The community has already shown that it will balance itself. When the weight class percentage info was first presented, people rapidly went to fill the lower populated queues.

And part of 4x3 is a weight balancing component. It will try to match a 40 ton medium with another 40 ton medium in the queue in the appropriate Elo bracket.

The man brings a fair point....

I hate constraint of freedom and choice.

But a 12 Direwolf team would seem... excessive... when up against a PUG.

So wheres the balance between them.

The problem here, IMHO, BEGINS at a key lack in functionality for this entire silly game. We have no real objectives. It is an endless stream of blind x vs y matches that earn us points that we can use to... further customize x, but never know in advance what y will be.

We need Community Warfare, if it's considered done now with what we've got, then more than half of the proposed "game" is MIA.

12 Dire Wolves is a heck of a thing to deal with, but if those 12 Dire Wolves are defending a large base against 12 mixed attackers who also have a pre-planned team, and KNOW what they're up against, suddenly it doesn't seem so unlikely to see them lose.

CW needs to have 'set locations' that we can choose from to fight in, via defending, holding, assaulting, capturing, stealing objectives from, etc. Different locations and situations have different values for maximum weight of mechs allowed, number of mechs you can fit in whatever dropship you/your company has purchased, and players must decide if the risk of the mission is worth whatever the rewards are, which also, are obviously linked with what the location is, what planet it is on, and who is going to be competing with you at that location.

Without the ability to plan or predict our missions, the ability to really customize our mechs for a given 'situation' will always yield disappointing results. Built an awesome close combat brawler with machine guns and SRMs huh? Too bad you dropped into Alpine Peaks against 8 clan missile boats. Sniper? Eat 12 lights on Canyon.

RNG decides your fate more than any single other factor in this game. You can say it is player skill, you can say it is group composition/group skill... But the reality is that your randomly selected match parameters matter more than anything in this game.

Nothing cool to test out like new maps, collisions, destructible stuff, or cw...not worth my time.

No new knick knacks and RGB codes to separate fools like me from my money? :-P

Seriously...I am SO GLAD you are working on those things listed there and glad you are looking at it scientifically cause that's gonna lead to the best solution. Personally I'd bet dollars to cockpit items that 3x3x3x3 will work as well in the end as smoothly as saying it aloud rolls off the tongue. Wish you could speed up science by testing some alternatives (weight thresholds, formulas, other good ideas floating around).

Even if it works the fact remains that I can't have a lance (or star) of all the same mech and I think that's not OK. Personally I enjoy running in light mech wolf packs and that becomes not possible...further...if we WANTED to have two companies of assault mechs to engage in an epic battle full of carnage and mayhem...WHY THE HECK SHOULDN'T WE BE ABLE TO? 3x3x3x3 should be abandoned for this reason:

THERE ARE POSSIBLE WAYS TO BALANCE THAT DOES NOT CONSTRAIN CHOICE. That's all I've got tae say about thay-at.

That last line has to be the most pointless ever... list them or stop making grandiose statements. ;)

The answer btw if you want to go deliberately unbalanced is the private queues as if you're not a cheap skate unit you must have someone with premium time.

I personally don't want to meet 4+ Timberwolves/Direwolves......

I had that issue too when I was trying to update. I reinstalled Public Test and still not ability to grab the newest patch, so hopefully they'll at least turn the server a couple of hours before go time.

wouldnt a weight limit (for example 350-720 per team) work better than the 3/3/3/3?

only for premaid 12V12
what i would like to see tryed is somthing a bit more flexabul like 3/*/4/3

so you are limited to 3 lights 3 Assalt but you can take upto 4 heavys and you could take upto 12 mediums.
I like the way the 4/3 works but it will make games stail and boring.
tho i dont think IS will do to well with tomany mediums the clans might with all that extra fire power.

I've been trying to patch the Test Client since last night. When I went to patch it last night it said the servers were undergoing maintenance (kind of odd since this was about 2:30AM EDT) so I figured I'd wait till morning. Well here I am now at 10:30am EDT trying to patch and the server is still undergoing maintenance? How am I supposed to help you guys test if I can't even patch the client?

I was really hoping the falling code would bug out and all the jump snipers would lose a leg as soon as they tried. That would have been amusing. :3

So i just thought of this, are you going to make any more IS mechs that use the Command Console, because right now there's one.... and the Target ting computer can be used by all clan mechs.

Can we get some sort of answer/explanation regarding this issue please? Will more mechs be added that can use Command Console or will current IS mechs be given the ability to add them?
