Paul says he's pleased to announce the inclusion of the IS Command Console.... But then says nothing about it again in the announcement?? What is it? I know I got one when I got an Atlas DDC, but then put it on the shelf as it didn't DO anything. I'm asking because unfortunatly I can't wait till tomorrows test, since I can't participate (working at that time). I would just wait and tinker around, but since I can't.... can someone give me a clue as to what this thing does? Thanks!

There's a Command Chair post with the outline of what the Targeting Computer and Command Console will do here: http://mwomercs.com/...ommand-console/

Quote

Command Console

Now let’s take a look at the Inner Sphere Command Console, which will be sharing functionality similar to the Targeting Computers.

NOTE: Once again, all values are placeholders.

Command Console
Weight: 3 tons.
Slots: 1 slot.
Zoom distance: [+5.25]%
Sensor range: [+6.0]%
Time to gather target info: [-20.5]%

They said they will post the final numbers before the test.

The best power of the Command Console is the 500k c-bills you get if you sell it. Pays for 33% of the cost of upgrading your D-DC with double heat sinks.

Lower tech version of the Clan Targeting Computer.

It really seems to be the only piece of equipment that I cannot see anyone wanting to use... I mean 3 tons for what exactly? Slightly better zoom, target info gather and sensor range.... I have no issues with any of that on any mech I own...

Is anyone even going to use this piece of crap?

I will use it to fill tonnage when I have limited Crit space remaining.

Get a bigger engine or something instead. ^_^

Also, I wish that the CommCons would give +1 or maybe even +2 module slots to the mech it's mounted on. Certainly makes more sense than a bunch of random sensor buffs.

3 tons more engine isn't worth it to an Atlas... I know. :P

ok, so its sensor boosts. though it might have something to do with ECM, on that note will it boost the ECM signal?

Pure garbage compared to what the clan variant does just sell it.

Personally I think it should give that bonus to all mechs in your lance or any nearby mechs as its a COMMAND console maybe it should help with teamwork.

That way like ECM you buff anyone near you with better sensor range and target times.

Seen that happen in other games where you have a "command" class vehicle.

Are you REALLY going to notice 5% of extra zoom? I don't think so. For three tons I'd say it needs to have at least a 20% boost.

The Command Console is a piss poor idea, honestly. The whole point of the CC was to offer a bonus to friendly mechs. That it doesn't do anything for friendly mechs is a travesty. Should provide 50% of the bonuses to mechs within Xm of the user.

I am guessing it extends beagle, seismic and ecm range and maybe other systems not yet added like the fabled "pwnzor x ray vision goggles"

But seriously it would be nice if it added an enhanced battle grid of some sort for calling npc assets onto the field like has been mentioned in many command module ideas before, some day.

With those stats... yea it is not worth the tonnage for me personally. Needs to be significantly better before I would spend 3 tons on it.

Tonnage is to critical on IS mechs to waste with marginal improvements.
