eh, a mixture of both, with the TBR meta build and the Direwhale meta build, along with the popularity of the stormcrow also running ppc's I see that as "one" of the main reasons, Clan Ballistics are pretty much universally considered DOA in general, for just the reason your mentioning, and the face time needed for standard energy weapons does indeed ensure some damage spread as the beam duration is long enough that if the target moves at all your going to spread some damage even just by accident. So I tend to agree with you, but the actual use of the ballistics is very very rare IMHO, lasers, yup the range draws people to use them all the time, I still think the dominant weapons are cerppc's (or at least the most widely used) followed by Gauss which spreads not at all. I just think the prevalence of the cerppc is a big reason for spread, biggest fan of srm's you may ever meet, but they spread the heck out of damage too, even with artemis....

Down in Solo Pugland where I dwell, I see CUACs on the majority of Clan heavy/assault mechs that I come across (especially Daishis). Sure, I still see CERPPC and CGauss everywhere, but CUACs seem to be more prevalent, at least from my own experience.

I get much higher damage totals with my CUAC boat Dire Wolf than I do with my gauss+ppc Dire Wolf. I get more KILLS with the gauss+ppc version due to it's greater efficiency.

Which is really what the data shows, at this point. Overall, the Clan weapons spread damage more than the Inner Sphere's arsenal of more pinpoint-damage weaponry.

clan (c) mechs will be far superior to IS(C) and many IS builds. Clans stock are very good vs IS stock suck.

It depends : noobs in a Nova-Prime with 12 cERMLs => can't wait to see them overheat to death.
TheB33f pro-tip : don't alpha in this mech.

I really wish that they would provide you access to their data because I believe you when you say barring new players and trial mechs they are balanced.

That's... not quite what his data said. It's also very old data, since the last update was on the 16th of july - over two months ago.

In any case, wishing that the people who have data would give it to Kiiyor - because you disagree with their conclusions and like his - with the clear expectation that he will magically come to the conclusion you like, is utterly unscientific - and not terribly sane.

rofl dis thread...

If Kiyor had been right that there was barely a balance difference in May/June we would be seeing clan mechs getting stomped across the board after all the nerfs the intervening months.

This thread is a monument to how Kiyor's "science" was a complete joke that was obviously misleading to the point one has to question just how cherry-picked this data was in order to create such results.

This is 16 pages of who not to listen to ever here and now if they are advocating for clan buffs or not changing the way clan XL's and side torso loss work.

Don't embarrass yourself; oh, sorry. I'm too late.

Kiiyor's data wasn't cherry picked - it was preliminary and incomplete, which he himself acknowledged. If you have any real objections to the methodology used in this thread, feel free to share them. Personally, I doubt you're qualified to have any, and I suspect your name tells me everything I need to know about you.

In reality, you're here reacting with blind, stupid hate against a dead thread because it sorta-kinda-not-really supports other, live threads whose opinions you dislike - you can take potshots at Kiiyor, whose name you could not even correctly spell, but the one not worth listening to in this thread is you.

Your post is an exercise in self-embarrassment.

Hmmm, I think I need to have this thread closed! There's a new thread with around 1500 matches, instead of this paltry 100. The link is also in my signature.

Thanks to the community, i'm now about 80% through the matches that have been contributed to me since my last analysis, and hopefully before the end of the week, all 10,000 will be complete. I've been able to break a lot of them down by date, and have some interesting figures before and after the clan weapon nerfs. The IS and clans also behave differently on different maps, and in different game modes.

Stay tuned!
