From what we have been told we choose one of the 5 clans to pledge loyalty to.
So if we are all Inner sphere .... who is in the clan mechs?
PvE?

Otherwise there will be no reason to play IS, or Clan gear will have to be comically nerfed.

Agreed, even though you will get all the 14 year old nerd raging swearing players in their mother's basements, I want to see some honor on your side of the field as im fighting dirtier then the most crooked cop. I have to fight dirty because anything else is suicide, and I cant get paid if im dead, your side doesnt have that issue, your issues should revovle around your code and how stricktly your clan honor's it within the confines of the IS vs Clan conflict. IE: Your heaviest mech will call a challenge to my heaviest (likely an Atlas all the time) and square off for honor in the eyes of your peers and superior's. So if that Mad Cat trio backed up by a duo of Vultures keeps constantly ganging up on that poor ******* of a scout in my lance they should suffer some sort of reprocusion.
In closing, you wana fight dirty? Join the IS.
You want cool tech and omni pods? Prepare to fight with a rigid code, and suffer for it noticably until your leadership learns we wont give up no matter how outclassed we are.
Also, stop nuking planets from orbit, thats just retarted. The waste of life and materials cant be justified, as the Accords between the houses pre-during-post Star League show. Yes I know there was a period during the first and second Succession war's that we did it too, but we learned and moved on. If you dont like our hit/fade tactics come down and clear us out the old fashion way, stop taking the easy road of mass useless death.

There's a game called Cosmic Break that handles differences in mech strengths pretty well. How it works is that each mech has a "cost" stat associated with it that depends on its chassis and equipped parts. The higher the cost, the more points that mech's team loses when that player dies. The first team to reduce their opponent's points to zero wins. In this way, weaker players can contribute to the fight in weaker mechs without having to worry about being a burden, and you can balance out discrepancies between IS and Clan mechs automatically.

Clans should fight honorable atleast up until Tukayyid, after that the gap in power starts to shrink.
I'm personally interested in single handedly plowing through a entire lance so I can claim all the honor for myself.
I'll even grant Hegira to allow my opponents to retreat if they put a good fight.

Basically, Gundam VS *** Gundam combined with BV 2.0.
That would work. Hell, that's standard, it's score point in the opposite direction.
Clan tech would cost much more even though they are just as fragile (while being more powerful), so 14-year-old BR?BR? Clanners who positively suck at the game would be a burden more than anything.

There wouldn't have been a truce if most of the Clans didn't fare so purely on Tukayyid.
Clan Wolf atleast completed all of its objectives.
Indeed, as if it were the Ilkhan his fault, that the Smoke Jaguars and the other Crusaders could not get the job done. The Smoked Kitties could not even take Luthien with the help of the Nova Cats, and then they want to blame the Ilkhan for their failures?
And the only reason the Pistachio Chickens did well, was because of a unit filled with Freebirths, solahma and other dezgra warriors.
At least the Ghost Bears managed to achieve a draw and did not whine about matters.

Wouln't like the bondsman thing. No way in hell am I going to play a role serving the dirty falcon vatborns.
I'm a lyran pilot, tough I could also deal with being FRR or Drac... but clan, and even worse, a crusader? Never gonna happen.

Sorry but if im *forced* to be a bondsman for a period of time, ill just play another character. I will not be a clanner, period. I am and always will be a Merc, you want my services pay up. Life's cheap so dont bother selling me mine, its already sold to the highest bidder, and if thats your line, your not them.
So keep your omni's and really long ranges with awsome damage potential. I will get that type of tech in time, till then ill enjoy ambushing/clubbing/DFAing and genearlly ruining on your day every day until I do get it. Then the real fun begins.

Just kind of goes to show what real leadership actually accomplishes. Focht did an amazing job leading the IS forces, and Wolf won it's objectives because of Natasha and Phelan...two of the best pilots in the entire galaxy.
And as said, least the Ghost Bear drew a draw and didn't complain.
As for the Bondsman idea, it should really just be a temporary rank. No having to do what someone else says, but an opportunity to RP if someone wants (but never forced.) I do like the idea of having to adhere to Zellbrigen if someone is Clan, and have it slowly degrade over time like it did in the novels unless both sides were willing to come to an agreement with it.
I hope the Clan arrival is brutal, I'll be piloting for the IS and I can't wait to have my own chance to show the Clans just how strong our spirit really is.

That being said, the two alternatives that keep coming up are Lichbane's suggestion: PvE then PvP, and PhytoChrome's Devs and players vs. everyone (which leaves anyone not in the invasion corridor doing what, I'm not sure). So it will probably be one of these along with either a slow, but fair addition of clan players, or just open it up entirely, but nerf the repairs, XP, etc. to keep the IS interesting.
Personally, I think the devs will opt for a one pilot per account model, and take high-level users as bondsmen early on and let the clan factions grow that way (I've seen similar systems work before). There would also have to be a penalty for playing Clan, but if you keep it restricted at first you can make it more slight than you would have to if you opened the Clans up for everyone at once just to keep it fair, IMHO.

I don't think it is going to work anything like said by most. Starting such a sized faction long after everyone is well settled, just can't see it happening. I think they are going to use the blanks in canon to deliver something that most are not expecting or have another pilot within our account.
Something that actually ensures instant population and players to make it work. Maybe mixed NPC + player to make up numbers in that case, I suppose.
Na, I predict 100% NPC with clans being used by devs to take territory, create big battle events that push players into long term engagements as NPC don't sleep and also use them to manage balance between houses.

Remember too, that clans fought in Stars of 3 mechs, not lances of four.
