What happens when the Clans show up?

As soon as possible, nearly every player will drop their IS Mech and switch to munch and cheese that are Clan 'Mechs. It's just human nature.

Exactly.

It's hard for me to play of the Houses, I'm a clanner. So, until they allow Clan Ghost Bear, I am trying to decide which house I should join.

Well then hopefully they allow the Rasalhague Republic, closest thing you'll get (given that Ghost Bear just absorbs them eventually anyways to form the Rasalhague Dominion).

What I think is going to happen is that Clans won't initially be playable, same with their Mechs. We'll slowly see the new equipment and mechs filtered in, but at the same time the older Mechs will get bumps and boosts as well and then once everything is on an equal playing field (and once the Clans have some turf in the Inner Sphere) we'll be able to join the Clans.

I'm planning on rolling House Marik first and potentially joining Clan Nova Cat later.

Yeah. Clantech should never be easy to manage...unless you win and keep winning on risky missions.

In Battletech, an Inner Sphere unit with Clan tech is basically sitting on priceless material that can't be repaired, only replaced where possible (unless your name was Wolf's Dragoons, but they ARE Clanners.). Maybe here and there you'd see a Clan-tech salvage bit used to modify an Inner Sphere 'Mech, but for a long time, that was it unless your last name was Davion or Kurita.

Since the game is going to be set years before the Clan Invasion I really don't think you can expect the Clans to make an appearance for quite some time. At least that's my hope. It keeps things simple with only five factions trying to demolish each other instead of tossing in an additional six or seven Clans. Besides...." There's no school, like the Old School."

it's gonna be set to start at year 3049 just around a year before they start knocking so expect them soon.

Its fine that they wont be long in coming, I need to slag some retards in Omni's to give me free tech. So bring it on Vatborn abominations, my Deaths Head and Trashcan will be waiting in a dark alley near you soon, with loads of C-Bills in my account.

What would you say if when the clans do come that there NPC’s or have the clans be people from the staff, only for the first few months and have the community ban together to stop an invasion.

Actually it's only a few of months before the invasion begins, less if the game is delayed.

Personally, I would prefer it if the game left out Clan tech altogether for quite some time. They talked about wanting to implement co-op missions at some point in the near future, so I'm thinking it would be cool if that's where the co-op missions came into play. Imagine your merc lance/company dropping in to tangle with a star or two of Clan mechs. Perhaps bidding becomes part of the game where the more difficult the opponent you bid against, the greater the C-bill and experience reward at the end of the fight.

Also - and I'm no BT history expert - I seem to recall that the Clan invasion was essentially unopposed at the onset, and that it took a few months before the great houses were able to rally to the fight. That being the case, it seems like the Clan invasion initially would appear as nothing more than a series of in-game news updates and map changes that we see while we as players continue to duke it out for control of IS worlds.

I doubt that this will happen. NPC´s can be cut out as this would be PvE. And PvE is not in the game so far... and I do not think that the staff would jump in. 20 or something clanners is not a real invasion. :)

*sigh*

All you clan clown kids want your gunboat mechs. If there's ever Clan VS IS game mode, it should stick to the Battletech rules. Clan is outnumbered at LEAST 4-1, and must adhere to the honor code of Zellbrigen, even though IS pilots don't give two ***** about honor.

Is there any other way to fight, than by using the honorable ritual of Zellbringen? Actually the odds were to be 3v1 not 4v1, though I am sure you would like that.

I do love to see the sniping attacks at my clan, obviously there are enough of us on the board to merit some attention.

Clan Smoke Jaguar will not suffer defeats, we will crush all opposition in a way never seen in the books. JAGUARS FOREVER!

It is quite simple. A lot of us are going to die horrific deaths.

Then we get saved by some good people. And back to warring with each other.

I will at the least fight the good fight against them though.

TRAITORS!!!
had they simply held the line Bulldog would never have worked, they could not focus on us without convincing the other clans to sit aside...the Nova Cats held many of our supply words, by denying us access as well as allowing the DCMS to walk right through them you doomed us to defeat.

I like to think of the Atlas as the Trash Can's older brother, so I use the name for em both though Old Deaths Head is a bit more versital and survivable.

Either way if you want me to avoid Smoke Jaguar and not take part in Operation Bulldog, ill need incentive :) I am a merc after all.

In August of 3049 the Clans began their return. With the vastness of the Inner Sphere, they begin out in the Periphery and as noted will probably be nothing more than News snippets until the Houses themselves come under attack.

To see what is available to fight with and why the Clans kicked **** early on, (it would be very Cool to see as many as of these in game as possible) this Link provides some good info on Inner Sphere Tech.
