If you had to pick one mech to go into a competitive match with, no tonnage limits, and you had to stick with that mech through a tournament (20+ drops across all maps), which mech do you feel provides you with the best chance to win?

That's a no brainer: Timberwolf meta sniper.
But I'm not a high level competitive player. If you want to ask SJR questions just go here:

A. Dragon Slayer with 2 PPCs and 2 AC/5.
B. Mad Cat with 2 JJs, 2 CERPPC, and a CGauss.

No longer. The new king is the Timberwolf. It has too much of a mobility advantage over the Dragon Slayer. But we will have to see in the next tournament.

If tonnage limits were in order, I'd just run a Jenner... because it's the better options to allow everyone else to go big.

As such a Dire/Atlas with a ballistic/LRM/energy balanced build, will fair better on a longer "fight" then one that is a meta. Reason being, he can fight on any map, on any terrain, at any range.

The Timberwolf with gauss instead of 2 AC5 is the closest to a Clan equivalent, but the only time I can see that being taken for the go-to meta choice competitively is for Clan vs IS matches. The Victor may not have as much torso agility compared to the Timberwolf, but the Victor has 1 thing that sets it apart: The lack of a gigantic CT that can be shot from nearly any direction.

If the answer is different than what the general consensus already is, then why the heck would they tell you.

AHAHAHAAHAHA. LOL @ thinking a non poptart mech would be competitive against pop tarts. MWO is all Poptart if you like winning. No other play style even comes close.

As much as I value everyone's right to express their opinion, I'm really only interested in the opinions of members of HoL, SJR, 228, etc.
This is for players who compete at the highest level of the game.

Also no, you would never take a Dire Wolf or an Atlas. Ever. That's just dumb.

>MFW halfway through the tournament PGI finally puts in the thrust nerf, and TW with 1 JJ isn't able to lift more than 5 meters off the ground anymore.
>MFW the one guy who was crazy enough to choose a 12ERSL-4MG nova rolls the entire enemy team because poptarts can't pop.
