I say...Give atlas K 4 ams hard Points. One ams shoots down 4 missiles, so it will in total stop 16 missiles, as of right now a 20 ton mech has he same dual ams it has and can stop 8 missiles. In comparison to the Atlas D, the k gives up 1 gun and 1 missile for 1 ams, this IMO is an unfair trade while for the stalker 5s, it just gives up the bonus torso twist of the stalker f. The dual ams locust only gives up a single energy hard point over another locust for a 2nd ams hard point. Then you have the DDC, it gave up two ct mounted energy hard points for a missile launcher and ecm. This is why the most expensive mech in the game is considered the worst of its variants, its more of a down grade then a variant

I actually think maybe give RS and D dual ams them selves.

Any thoughts guys?

Too much work for the devs. Just add a forth module and run both AMS upgrades.

Fourth and third wouldn't it be? Either way besides the point, atlas k got cheated (and so did the stalker 4n)

If you just build it right it is good. Doesnt need any buffs.
2PPC
1AC20
2MLs(CT)
2AMS
STD 340
the rest to DHS and your done.

Are you saying you prefer the k over the others? i know it can be good, but that doesn't mean it isn't a badly balanced variant (same with stalker 4n, i loved it but still no point to it)

A missile hardpoint would probably for sufficient for the Atlas-K. The problem is that it is a simply worse Atlas-D. I wouldn't rule out a ballistic hardpoint though...

Other options include giving it the Stalker-3F treatment (increasing its torso twist significantly).

The Stalker-4N... feels like a mediocre placeholder. Giving it the Stalker-3F treatment would probably be good enough (it's almost a 3F clone minus the extra missile hardpoint anyways).

I feel like there should be a little more variety though, difference between variants being a single hrdpoint seems a little lacking when it comes to diversity...trading a gun for an ams hardpoint still feels kind of lousy unless you KNOW that gun is just 1 ac/20 and you rather have dual ams (vs and atlas d)
and the stalker 4n IS a mediocre place holder, its the only one that doesn't have a missile hard point in each arm, and it doesn't have anything going for it as the reason. IT has no uniqueness at all

I suggest finding its strengths and use them.

Twin AMS, 4 energy HP's and without a missile rack on it you can run a 350std with 17 heatsinks.
STD350 (62.4kph) AC20, 2LL, 2mL, AMSx2, 4 tons of AC20 ammo, 2 tons of AMS ammo, 592 armor.

Quad AMS would be hilarious on the Atlas K.

Energy hardpoint on the right eye which is capable of mounting an ER-PPC.

Take away a module from the D-DC and give it to the K. That way D-DC is slightly brought in line and K is buffed.

^ hard points would make it a boars head with a 2nd ams though

Just so you guys know i didn't just get a k think it sucked and made a thread on buffs it needs, i just made a thread about a possible solution to the ks "4n syndrome" because its always been underwhelming, this can not really be denied

Fixed this statement

The Fatlas K is so terrible I never field it, even when we need more AMS.

Give it 4 missile hardpoints so it can carry an SRM 24. I think that'd be the ticket.

So then it would be giving up a gun for 2 missiles and an ams hard point? (in comparision to the D) Idk, that might make the D the new "4n down syndrome" fatlas, how about 3 gun hard points instead(3 ac/5s, ran it on both hbk and banshee)? :3 So then there is a slightly energy focused one (rs), missile focused one (ddc), and gun focused one (k)

Quad AMS would be amazing :) I would buy my K back for that! Only bought it while I was leveling Fatlases so I could have another XL 300. Or perhaps a few more torso-mounted energy points.

Come on pgi just make it happen, quad ams on the atlas k to make it worth the 13k charged for it. Now what can we think of to make the stalker 4 worth it..... perhaps quad ams as well?
