My system froze with a no HD space error msg. Can't load anything because they all want temp disk space (which doesn't exist) so I loaded a 5 day old backup and found I had over 53,000 saved screen shots. Deleted them and my HD is now totally fragmented beyond belief. I use Print Screen for screen shoots, but PGI in their infinite wisdom have also recently mapped F12 to the same function (they probably mentioned it in some obscure place, but I can't find it). CAN THIS BE DISABLED? Or have the users once again been shafted?

And if it cannot be disabled PLEASE make it so that it can be (maybe in SETUP/VIDEO or SETUP/KEYBOARD).

Also, should I assume PGI will read this or should I file a support ticket?

Uh...

Stop hitting F12? It's the default Screenshot button in Cryengine and it was disabled for closed beta.

It was mentioned in the patch notes a year or so ago. You should pay attention to the patch notes. There have constantly functions been added to the game and keyboard shortcuts to access them. So there is no one to blame but you.

I'm gonna put it blunt. It was your incompetence that caused it. It has been mentioned in patch notes before, it can be viewed in controls settings (and can be changed btw), and I've even seen it mentioned on forum posts. I have a question though, why in the hell would you ever take 53,000 screenshots? I mean what are you doing, going on a game and screenshotting every sentence that gets typed in chat just incase you need to tattle? Even if you couldn't change the binding for screenshot in mwo settings, you could change it in OBS. You also could have checked the control settings and/or changed your binding in OBS. So why even come on the forums to moan? You are just as bad as the people whining like "clans OP","lurms OP","PPCS OP',AC5s OP" etc. Next time instead of coming to the forums to cry out for attention, just try and fix the problem first, and if then you can't figure it out, come on the forums and I or someone else will gladly give you support or tips.

Dang. Harsh words from Ego.

Ego telling it like it is.

I think he bound the F12 key to something else and took the 53,000 shots by accident. The only other post complaining about this F12 issue is by someone that bound his "To Talk" com button to F12.

Really though, who binds stuff to the function keys? Also, F12, super convenient...

I had my Screenshot function in fraps also set to F12, but I simply stopped using fraps when the patch notes announced the same functionality.

Resurrecting this thread because PGI has decided I can't make threads on an account I've already sunk $45ish on.

Anyway, I had F12 mapped to Alpha. It's what I have my G500 center thumb button mapped to. When I hit it, the game locks up for up to 10 seconds (5760x1080 screenshots take a while to save, I guess). Even in the mechlab, pressing F12 causes a noticeable little stutter.
Is there still no way to change the screenshot key or something? I'm not willing to change the keybind on my mouse. I have it set to various things in tons of other games. I'm not going to remap my keys in a bunch of other games just because of 1 game's oversight.
Note: I am using Steam but already have the Steam screenshot button mapped to a different key.
